I've brought this to the forum Moderator's attention.

If it remains stuck, let us know so we can investigate further.

Post not showing (to merge)

Hello,

I created the following thread http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/other...ngen-help.html
with the hope of getting some help.
However, when I click on it now, my message doesn't show. When I try to post a reply, it states my thread may have been flagged. I read the posting rules and there was nothing in the post to justify this! Although, of course, it could just be a glitch.

Any help would be much appreciated. It was my first post on the site.

Thanks all!

Did you include a URL or image?

Did you edit your post? (Given there were 21 views, I suspect you may have edited your post. Even if it was originally approved by a Senior Moderator, editing a new member's post returns it to the moderation queue.

If either, the post probably has gone to the moderation queue. As the forum has no appointed moderators, the notice goes to the Senior Moderators. I'll notify them as well.

Sorry for the inconvenience; FlyerTalk has had to limit new members in this way because we have a number of folks and bots signing up to spam.

Ahh, I see! Yes, I made an edit as I forgot to include the airline. I then went back to see if I could edit the thread title as I messed up the airport abbreviation, but I don't think I can do that anyway.

I completely understand about the bots and whatnot. Thanks for explaining!

simonlread28 Jul 6, 2017 6:37 pm

I did also include a link, but it was to an official website regarding the Schengen rules. This appears to be within the FlyerTalk guidelines though.

Absolutely, it is.

But let's say "early" posts with inclusions like URLs or images (we've found too many that include trackers, etc.) get quarantined, and new members are throttled back on the number of Private Messages they can send (for similar reasons). It usually takes little time for a Moderator to approve (or otherwise deal with) it.

Meantime, your post got stuck in queue though it got approved. The note to the Senior Mods worked and l'etoile ultimately duplicated your post and thread. You can find them here: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/other...ngen-help.html.

Fortunately, even though we're all volunteers, there's great teamwork and these issues usually are promptly addressed. Apologies for the bother you experienced. You've already received some useful answers.

Thanks!

I noticed this appears to be the case for Kanji characters as well. I quoted this post, including the characters for ekiben, and seem to have triggered the alert as well.

Thankfully this thread came up in a search and now I know.

Problems with posts (new member & moderation queue - to merge)

Some of my posts are getting deleted and some are not getting approved by mods for some reason, while others are automatically let through... can someone help me with this?

Thank you!:)

JDiver Jul 24, 2017 12:01 pm

Hi,

Sorry for the trouble. Certain new posts are sent to moderation queues for approval. If those are edited, they go back to the queue.

Please read the wiki post and information in http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/techn...w-missing.html, then reply and we can see what the next step is.

Thanks JDiver for directing me toward this thread. It may be that my most recent post contains a link that was provided by another poster. Perhaps if I can remove that link my post can be expedited?

I believe I also pasted the usernames of posters into the quotes (unfortunately forgot the multiquote function) which turned into URLs...

If there is anything I can do to help push this forward a bit more quickly, feel free to let me know! Thank you.

Hi JDiver,

I read and replied to the thread that you had posted... My post that I'm waiting on has been in queue for over 5 hours now... is there an issue that needs to be resolved? Forgive me, it is a little bit frustrating considering it is regarding a bit of a time-sensitive issue.

The post should be #24 in this thread but I have made a shorter, subsequent post following it.

Thank you!

I see the Aer Lingus | AerClub forum has one Moderator, starflyergold, who is based in Brussels - so perhaps there's a time zone issue. (Not to mention, Moderators are volunteers, most with jobs, family life and travel plans.) Sometimes there is a time lag for any of those things, but it allows FlyerTalk to be a genuine online community.

There are several ways to communicate with starflyergold:

Use Private Messaging from MyFlyerTalk or

use the Moderator contact radio button / widget at the sude of each post. In yours below, it's the http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/image...ons/report.gif. This will bring a pop up message box that will send your report to all the forum's assigned Moderators (or in this case, the assigned Mod, or all the Senior Moderators if there's no assigned forum Moderators).

I see you edited your first post in that thread - that might have put it back in the queue. I also see starflyergold deleted an empty post (would have been post #4 ). What would be #25 , at 00:53 in BRU may not get looked at until daytime Brussels time.

It's frustrating - I apologize for the frustrations - but we've found these hoops and hurdles for newly signed up members has reduced quite a bit of our spam (and we get a lot of it - you generally don't see it because we're pretty responsive and have tools in place). You're close to the point your posts won't be autohandled when they contain URL links or links to graphics and other files as "new member" posts; that's good news.

Kagehitokiri Jul 24, 2017 5:35 pm

wonder if there would be an easy way to show the list >

Posts from new members likely to end up in a moderation queue:
. . . • Posts containing a URL / web link
. . . • Posts containing a graphic image or IMG link
. . . • Posts containing certain key words
. . . • Posts quoting a post containing a web or image link
. . . • Posts quoting other posts with links
. . . • An approved post with link that gets edited

during new member registration process or as part of confirmation email above link

That is listed in the Wikipost for this thread. Are you recommending it be added elsewhere?

New to this forum.
Is there a way to find out what happened to my post: pending review or rejected?

I posted, it said it would need to be reviewed.
Now, there is no record as far as I can see that I submitted anything. It seems I have no way of knowing if it's rejected or still in approval process. Or is there?

Awaiting moderator approval

I posted a reply to my topic in the NYC forum (can't link to it as I don't have 5 posts) a few days ago and it came up with a message saying my post was awaiting approval from a moderator. It still hasn't appeared in the topic yet. Is this normal?

Thanks

chgoeditor Apr 28, 2018 8:55 am

Welcome to Flyertalk. All of our moderators are volunteers, and it's possible that the NYC forum moderators have been caught up in life or that your post was overlooked in the moderation queue.

I see that you've posted twice in this thread. Presuming it's another post that hasn't appeared, you can send a direct message to the forum moderator dstan to inquire about it.

LiamAU Apr 28, 2018 9:12 am

Thanks for the reply! Wasn't sure if I messed something up or if it was normal so just wanted to double check. There's a third post in that topic that I submitted but there's no rush so happy to wait for it to be approved normally.

FYI it is the newness of your account and the small number of posts you have made that causes this. It is an antispam measure, and our volunteer moderator team can only work so fast to get non-spam posts approved.

I posted something yesterday on the "Will my award waitlist clear? Master thread 2019" for Cathay Pacific..The post hasn't appeared yet. It has been 9 hours or so. I read that the post should appear within a few hours. It didn't contain a link or anything. Is there a way to know if the post is pending approval, approved or not approved?

Hi Yaseen,

I have reached out to the moderators of that forum and asked where your post stands.

Hi there,

I posted a thread in the Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer forum around 11-12 hours ago.
While I understand things are moderated, given I haven't seen it appear (and I know moderators are volunteers), was it actually submitted for moderation, or is it simply in the queue?

Thank you for your time.

It is one and the same. The mod needs to look at it and make sure that it is a legitimate post. This happens with low post count members, particularly if there is an active link in the thread. I'm sure it is frustrating so I went and found it. Normally I leave it to the mod for the forum, but in this case I've approved the post in hopes of getting you some answers.

Dear moderators,
I am a new user and I tried to post to the relevant thread and it says I have to wait for a moderator to approve it.
I know it can take some hours to get it approved but can I get the whole message of my post if not approved so I can make the necessary changes to it?

Time is of the essence for this particular issue so I'd really appreciate if you could approve or get back to me ASAP.

Thanks.
