FlyerTalk was born as WebFlyer.com, founded by Randy Petersen, editor of InsideFlyer, and got its current URL in 1999. It was sold to Internet Brands Inc. of Los Angeles, California USA in 2007. Their site is www.internetbrands.com, and they own 100+ different and widely ranging websites, including a number of travel and leisure-related sites.

The site is owned by Internet Brands. They own quite a few web sites including some dealing with the automotive industry. You can also buy a horse on one of their sites.

I am not sure if you noticed, but Canarsie has placed a short summary of the original history of FlyerTalk in the wikipost at the top of this thread. IB is a large, faceless corporation whose main goal is to make money for their shareholders, but the history of FlyerTalk is a bit of a more colorful story about one guy. Check out the info above and then start Googling the name "Randy Petersen."
