(Need for an) Acronym Thread

Hello all, I am new to Flyertalk and have enjoyed reading the various threads but the sheer number of acronyms being used makes it a challenge. Has anyone thought to start a thread to this effect?

Thanks,

FlyerTalkers do seem to speak a strange and foreign language; we've recently updated our glossary to help our members.

Hang in there!

Thanks,
Welcome to FT.

You can find many of the acronyms and other special terms used here in the glossary. To find the glossary, scroll down to the bottom of the page (for instance, from this page, below the last blue stripe) and click on the word "Glossary" slightly to the left of the center of the gray stripe. On the (new) FlyerTalk home page, the "GLOSSARY" link is in the big blue box to the left at the bottom of the page.

Try the glossary. I think you'll find it to be very helpful.

As this is a suggestion and a technical issue, it will be moved from TalkBoard Topics to the Suggestions forum.

To see the main FlyerTalk Glossary, go to the top of the page blue-band menu, mouse over Help, select Glossary and - there you go! (There is also an Airport Code Lookup in that menu as well.)

As well, many airlines and programs fora have their own glossaries that specialize a bit more as well.

If you see a term you'd like to have defined but you don't find it in the glossary, please send a note to [email protected].

We've just done a major update and add to the glossary, the first in several years. It's much more extensive than it was but there are sure to be errors and omissions.
