Someone must have hacked into my account during the last 22 hours.
There is no way my post count goes up from lower 5K to over 6K while I was asleep. To be perfectly honest, I don't like it. I've been waiting and wanting to make my 6000th post in this thread knowingly: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/commu...d-threads.html
Now I can't! I feel so very deprived.
Yes, I am going to make a big fuss about this sudden change. This is NOT the package for the recently passed count-all-posts motion. (Oh, pardon me, OMNI/Game Forum is not part of the "all"). Especially when Carol had clearly stated counting would have only be made forward, not retroactively:
Where did my overnight gifted posts come from?
Yes, I figure it probably has to do with my previously-not-counted OMNI posts. I don't like it. I don't want it. And I didn't/don't ask for it. Not to mention there's no passed motion about it. I know I post in OMNI but have no idea that I have over 600 OMNI posts being recounted/added though.
Here are my humble requests:
1. I don't care about my post count but there are things I do care on FT. If our tech dept can "bump" up my post count by hundreds overnight, would you please remove those "unexpected" increase (at least by me) from my post count now? I really really really want to make my 6kth mark in said CBuzz 6K-post thread, when the right time comes.
2. Would IB tech dept kindly tell us what kind of changes are happening, how changes take place, and in what fora, w/r/t post count from the recently passed motions? FTers are so clueless now and folks are guessing, or discussing, in at least 4 different threads without any clarification from IB, which is not cool.
Please? Thank you.
ps. Yes, I know for days there's another thread about post count decrease. My issues are different from those with post count deducted, or even dropped down to 1 single digit. This thread is about unexpected big upward change in post count and how changes happen. Please don't merge my thread.

They are re-counting Omni posts and giving you credit for those made in the 4 years when they did not count. I believe they are also putting back the games threads that were deducted upon the move to the games forum (I'm not 100% sure about that).

It's not about removing my posts....
That's not what I was talking about. I am not asking to remove/delete my posts. If I wanted my posts removed or not visible, I could have just edited them out myself or simply not made those posts to start with. FWIW, I usually do the latter for those kind of posts.
I am not alone in this.
That doesn't apply to me or my post count.

TalkBoard cannot please everyone all of the time, neither can IB. TalkBoard approved a measure to count posts in all forums (and then opted to not count them in the games forum). They were told it would not be retroactive, but apparently, IB has decided that it should be retroactive.
While it may be a bit late, congrats on hitting 6,000 posts, all of which have equal weight in FT-posting land now.

Did you post anything at all in Omni between 2008 and last week? Did you have a thread moved there?
If so: your post there has now been counted.
If it was moved there - your post count was deducted when it moved and now it's been put back.

As I posted in this nearby thread, I noticed a couple of days ago that my posts had increased to something over 11,000 and I was now an "Evangelist." I assumed that all of my posts in the People Association thread were now being counted. I've rarely visited OMNI otherwise.
I subsequently found that my official post count had been decreased. In fact, IIRC correctly I had something over 8000 and now I'm below 7000.
Odd.

Post count fluctuations
By request, I have not merged this thread with the main post-count thread; I am re-posting here what i posted there by way of explanation:
I've followed this post-count issue and have followed up with the tech team (Mike) and with Carol, and I've been assured that that policies that determine which posts "count" and which do not are accurately reflected in the current totals.
The fluctuations in total count are explained by the moving of large numbers of posts between threads that "count" toward one's total and threads that do not; this extraordinary movement caused the post counter to break, necessitating a manual re-set. It's possible that the re-set also resulted in a correction of previously inaccurate counts for some community members.
Now the post counts are accurate, based on todays post count rules set by the community leadership.
Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns,
Paul

I wondered why my count went up by a few hundred. The real question: is there a way to convert the "gifted" posts to actual miles? I need a few more Frontier miles for a free ticket.
