Post count decreased

My post count decreased from around 2300 to 2200, anyone know why that might be? I can't believe I had a hundred or so mod'd over a couple of days - but I won't write anything off !

tom911 Feb 4, 2012 2:42 am

Did you participate in any OMNI game/number counting threads that were moved to the new non-post-counting OMNI Games forum?

YuropFlyer Feb 4, 2012 2:58 am

Hi, I had about 800 posts or so (might be more, of course didn't really remember what exactly) - now it shows 1 post (as I did one since yesterday)

Yes, I played in the "counting up to 100.000", but the posts there never counted towards my posting number.. so I'm wondering why it's gone now? I feel so newbie-ish this way :D

No.

SanDiego1K Feb 4, 2012 11:25 am

I've called the thread to the attention of the IB tech team.

No.

You do have 153 posts in one of the games that was moved over to OMNI Games (music association thread).

With over 5,000 posts in that one thread that would take you down to zero if the posts were deducted, but not sure that was the plan when threads were relocated to the new forum. There was a time when those posts did count a few years back, so some posts in those threads did accrue post count, while others did not.

Sounds like it will eventually be sorted out by the Tech folks.

Ah. I thought that was always in OMNI and never counted. Thanks, that explains it then.

Yes, hopefully.. I feel so newbish without any posts.. I only started posting there quite recently, so I didn't gained a single posting count from it (I wouldn't have posted there if it would have counted, as I generally don't like spaming to aquire any kind of posting numbers) - but apparently they were all deducted from my account when the thread got moved. Hope it gets sorted out :)

MatthewLAX Feb 4, 2012 9:15 pm

I lost over 300 posts, and yes, about four years ago I did play in the counting thread.

But if you are going to take those away, why don't you give me post counts for the thousands of subsantive OMNI posts I have created over the last several years?

Not cool.

Silver Fox Feb 5, 2012 2:38 am

The more I think about it, the more I feel that the posts should have been grandfathered in. If a post was good enough to count at that time, then it should stand, period.

Or at least for those that posted AFTER they changed the "It doesn't count" should not have those (never counting) posts removed from their counters...

I really hope for a fix, I already got asked why I have so little posts even though he saw me posting many times in that forum (EK) :D

kipper Feb 6, 2012 6:48 am

I believe what happened is that initially, posts counted in the OMNI-games forum upon creation, which was a "glitch." As threads were moved there, post counts increased for those who had participated in those threads, as every post they made there previously counted. When they flipped the switch so that posts in OMNI-games did not count, post counts dropped, due to those posts no longer counting.

Silver Fox Feb 6, 2012 1:12 pm

Well I don't know what it is but it just went down again ! I was over 2200, and now I am not - is there other stuff moving at the moment?

IBobi Feb 6, 2012 1:17 pm

Tech is rebuilding post counts. Not to worry.

Which means many should expect post counts to change for a few days without warning?

IBobi Feb 6, 2012 1:25 pm

Not sure how long it'll take, but that's possible...

While you are doing it, can you deduct about 25,000 posts from my count in order to trick people into thinking that I have a life?

:D Everyone knows the truth about you, so asking IB to reduce your post count won't do much. :D

RichMSN Feb 6, 2012 2:20 pm

It's obvious the game threads should've been closed and new ones started in OMNI/Games. Obvious in retrospect, that is.

:D These are the things that aren't considered when backroom, hush-hush deals are pushed through... :D

It wouldn't make a difference! :D

Does this mean re-calculating post count totals based on the current rules for each forum?

Because my post count went from 8,000 to 9,913 over the last 4 hours.

You need no help in making people think you have no life.

You don't have a life. You don't have a GF. Such IS the life of Dovster! :)

Good for them. The injustice informally known as apostheid seems to (finally) be corrected.

Well, at least anonplz seems to be a normal human being.

Silver Fox Feb 7, 2012 12:38 am

So why did some post counts go up then ?

1. To destroy any remnants of self-respect that those of us who became "Legends" might have had.

2. To count Omni posts which were made when post counting did not apply to that forum (even though we had been told by Carol that would not be possible).

1. LOL

2. Is it just selective OMNI posts then over a certain time period?

Dovster Feb 7, 2012 12:59 am

As far as I can see, it was all Omni posts made during the period when they were not counted. (There had been an earlier period when they were counted.)

The only exception would be posts in threads that were moved to the Games Forum. Those threads do contain some posts from that earlier period and thus, when they were moved to Games, they ceased to be included in post counts.

Is there any way to see who has the most posts on FT? Other vBulletin boards have a link to post a member list in order of decreasing number of posts.

I don't know if there is or not, but if there is there is no reason to expose those people to even further humiliation.

Apparently, IB opted to recreate post counts in OMNI during the time that they did not count (2008-2012). :)

wharvey Feb 7, 2012 9:25 am

Indeed.... :)

Where is that list of Talkboard members again! :D

Well I have 100's in the "misunderstand this and reply" thread and that did not get picked up - should it ?

Depends on if it will be moved to OMNI games would be my guess, but I don't know. :)
