That sounds like the correct behavior because there are several regions and 2 questions; we did record a successful ballot for you. Were you not able to vote?

jbfield Jan 17, 2012 3:23 pm

I get "You didn't select any option as votes. Please try again" even when I have.

Be sure you've made selections on the region you're currently viewing when you click the submit button; if you have switched regions or toggled between awards, you may not be submitting data.

There are six screens (2 awards/3 regions) that need to be submitted separately in order to vote for all categories.

jbfield Jan 17, 2012 4:14 pm

Method 1
I previously tried to vote for the "Best Rewards Program" separately from the "Outstanding Benefit Voting", however both gave the same error message, i.e.

"Currently Voting for: Best Rewards Program"
I then selected "Europe/Africa".
I then went to "Airline -> Your #1 Choice" and made a selection.
I then pressed "SUBMIT my final vote for this region."
I got the same error message.

I then went to
"Switch to Outstanding Benefit Voting"
I then selected "Europe/Africa".
I then went to "Airline -> Your #1 Choice" and made a selection.
I then pressed "SUBMIT my final vote for this region."
I got the same error message.

Method 2
I just tried this other way instead:
"Currently Voting for: Best Rewards Program"
I then selected "Europe/Africa".
I then went to "Airline -> Your #1 Choice" and made a selection.

I then went to
"Switch to Outstanding Benefit Voting"
I then selected "Europe/Africa".
I then went to "Airline -> Your #1 Choice" and made a selection.

I then pressed "SUBMIT my final vote for this region."
I got the same error message.

If you don't mind - what is the browser you are using? Are you voting from a mobile device or similar?

I'm getting an identical error set - I'm using Chrome 16 on a Win 7 laptop.

FLYGVA Jan 18, 2012 8:01 am

YOU MAY ONLY VOTE FOR A GIVEN PROGRAM ONCE PER REGION; your #1 choice cannot be the same as your #2 choice, etc. – when you submit your vote, the electronic ballot will return an error until each program you select in a region is unique.

I was able to vote twice for a programm (vote #1 and vote #3) using FF 9.0.1 with XP

And I had to select something in a categorie, I got an error message, if it e.g. do not enter anything in a group (e.g. rental cars in Asia pp)

FLYGVA, thanks for the report. I've reviewed your voting ballots and it does not appear that you've voted twice for the same thing. Although a javascript validation glitch is possible, the system - it appears - recorded the ballot correctly.

GoldCircle; can I trouble you to attempt a vote via a different browser and report back on success/failure? Thank you.

ag51 Jan 18, 2012 11:42 am

I'm also getting the 'You didn't select any option as votes. Please try again' - trying to submit only my top two choices in the Europe region for airlines and hotels only, for both Best Rewards and Outstanding Benefit.

I'm using IE8 on a Windows XP desktop (yeah, I know but it's a company PC :))

Anyone running any adblockers or anything that might interfere with javascript?

Might try switching those off. Also of course try clearing cookies/cache...

jbfield Jan 18, 2012 4:16 pm

I don't have any ad blockers or similar and I cleared my cookies only the other day.
Haven't cleared my cache, but have been trying to avoid doing that.

KiwiSurfer Jan 18, 2012 11:51 pm

I went to http://www.flyertalk.com/awards/.

Clicked VOTE! button and was sent to http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/vbvoting.php?vid=3.

I clicked Middle East/Asia/Oceania.

I chose only the following options:-
Airline #1: Qantas
Airline #2: Virgin Australia
Airline #3: Air NZ
Airline #4: (left blank)

All other options (including hotel and car rental) left blank.

Clicked SUBMIT.

Got a "You didn't select any option as votes. Please try again" error.

This occurs on my usual Chrome browser as well as a Firefox browser that had all browsing data (timeline 'everything' selected and all object types seleted) deleted.

Seems like an error on your end. I wonder if it is having trouble with the region change and/or the fact I only voted for airlines?

Havn't tried playing round just in case I accidently submit a ballot that does not reflect what I wanted to vote for.

Difficult to vote for the best reward when only one type of reward is mentioned for each vendor - "American Airlines - 500 mile upgrades" - I would rather vote for "American Airlines - Automatic upgrades for Platinum Executive"

Hi Terry,

Outstanding Benefit selections in the ballot are based on a nominations process that occurred in December in each program's forum, where FTers voted on which single benefit from each program should appear on the ballot to compete against other programs.

Tried to submit a vote under European section of Best Reward Prog. Selected only 1st choice airline and 1st + 2nd choice hotel. Immediately clicked "Submit my final vote for this region" (i.e. didn't click on another tab) and told

You didn't select any option as votes. Please try again.
:(

Can you refresh the screen and try submitting that same selection again & let me know what the result is?

Tried but no luck. Tried again in IE 9.0.8112.16421 (was using FF 9.0.1) and same error. As I say I'm just trying to select 1 airline and 2 hotel programmes in the European section.

Sorry alan -- you ought to be able to do just that. We're looking into it from a technical standpoint and I will get back to you as soon as I have something.

OK, thanks Paul :)

To those experiencing trouble registering their votes

The voting issue that has affected a small number of voters has been resolved; if you were previously unable to register your votes in a region, please try again at your convenience.

If you have any trouble, PM me or post your trouble here.

Thank you and happy voting!

Paul

EDIflyer Jan 19, 2012 1:51 pm

both at home and at work (home chrome and ie at work)

IBobi Jan 26, 2012 7:20 pm

Please try again and take a screenshot of your error; it may have something to do with your odd username/punctuation.

thank you

Thanks for the sceeenshot! Always a great idea when you report a tech issue.

I've been following up with tech on this, and we're pretty sure it has to do with the punctuation in your username; I'm guessing that if you wanted to change it, you could vote just fine.

Of course, ideally we'd fix the glitch and not make you work around it, but JUST in case we can't make that change before voting closes (2/17), just know it's an option.

I'll keep you posted,

Paul

This issue should now be resolved, please let us know if you are able to submit your vote. Thank you and sorry for the inconvenience!

voting for car rentals

Hi - didn't vote for this one because you didn't have Enterprize which really surprized me as it certainly is all over NOrth america and its $9.99 per day per weekend has been great - They do not give rewards but you can use your reward credit cards and no other one has the great weekend prices. I rent from there all the time. They are great

I'm not an official spokesman on this issue, but AFAIK, the FlyerTalk awards are not about the overall perception of a company but rather about the specifically named component of the featured rewards programs.

And given that Enterprise has no (real) rewards program, they have no component of that rewards program to be nominated, which makes them ineligible to be featured for a vote.

You'd better write Enterprise and tell them to upgrade Enterprise Plus to a real rewards program. ;)
