Google ads displacing posts
Suddenly tonight, I'm getting blue and white backgrounded Ads By Google on the right part of the page. On the forum thread list page, they fit fine, but on the thread itself, the ads are a few pixels too wide, and all the posts appear below them.
Windows 7, Firefox 3.6.8, ....... disabled. Edit to add: see post 6 for a screenshot. |
I'm having similar issues too. I just looked at some threads and it seems that the 3rd post in some threads have their content being blocked.

I've seen the problem at hand before. Today, I'm experiencing a similar, but new (to me) issue.
Adds are forcing the thread content to below the viewable area on my screen, so it appears as though pages haven't loaded properly; content is still there if I scroll down. I'm too lazy to post a screen shot or try a different browser; I'm using Chrome. |
Having the same problem this evening on two separate machines, both running IE 8. Highly irritating, to say the least.
|
Am also having similar problems to bhatnasx and the others, with Google ads onto of 3rd/4th post in threads. These are typically green colours. The blue/white ads are hidden behind the "logout" text.
Win XP, IE8 |
Here's a screenshot of the issue I started the thread for.
http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w...alk/ft-ads.jpg I loaded the same page in IE8, and the problem didn't occur. Maybe it's specific to Firefox. And I am also seeing the single ad overlaying the post text as described in posts 2 & 5. |
I'm having the same problem this morning, which seemed to start just after I did some updates on my computer. When I accidentally clicked on the two-toned green box ad covering a post (hoping that I was X-ing out of it), it sent me to CheapOair.
|
These ads are annoying but are they temporary or more permanent? I'd surely hope a fix is in the offing.
|
Thanks to all for reporting in. We will certainly look into this and see what can be done to correct ASAP.

Nope, it's happening to me in Chrome so it's not just Firefox.
(1) the same as bhatnasx reported [location top two posts]; or (2) the same as aidanc reported [location posts three and four]. this has been going on for several days now. |
Tech is working on getting them removed.
Thanks for your patience! |
Not a New Problem Here
I've had that exact same problem for several weeks. About half the time it could be corrected by using REFRESH (f5), but lately even that hasn't worked.

Please let me know if it's still occurring.
It should be fixed now. Thanks! |

I know how to do a screen shot, but once you do the screen shot and save it as a file, how do you attach it to a post. Thanks
|
Still doing it to me as well.
|
Yup, I'm afraid so.
|
Not fixed for me either. :(
|
FWIW, the advertisements work fine when looking at a forum but once I click through to a thread, they are all wonky like the screenshot posted in post number six.
Also, I'm running Firefox 3.6.8 with Mac OS X 10.6.4, if that matters at all. |
Still happening with the same ads.
|
Getting exactly same screen problems as bhat, bear and itsme. Google ads are covering up text in the posts. VERY annoying.

|
Ok this should be finally fixed!

1) ALT+PrintScreen to take the screen shot picture 2) Open Microsoft Paint & CTRL+V to paste the screen shot into a picture file. 3) Save as a JPEG 4) Upload to my Picasa website (picasaweb.google.com - create an account off a gmail account if you have one, or create a new one) 5) In Picasa, there's a place that you can click that says Embed Image - copy and paste the URL information, but edit it down to the part that starts with "http://lh4.ggph******.jpg" (your URL may be different - but this part is hidden inside the coding - where the **** is the rest of the URL. 6) Type I'm sure there's a better way, but that's how I did it...I think pictures have to be hosted somewhere else - you can't just save a picture in a post (as far as I know, but I'm not a very tech-savvy person). |

Can you send me screen shot to ?
I know that ads in 3rd posts are normal though for logged in users and you would have to get a paid subscription to get rid of it. However if it's not displaying correctly I need to see a screen shot as I see it in the ' wrapped way" which would be the normal way. Hope that makes sense! :-) Thanks! |

They´re all good now. The ads are now not covering anything in the srcript. Thanks for all your help:)

i seem to be having issues.
Safari 5.0 Windows 7 There is a "tall" banner ad that is putting itself within a post. This is causing that one post to be very long. The top horizontal banner is also pushed all the way to the right. |
I am actually seeing menu and thread pages freezing / failing to load because right-side ad content is loading in off-standard ways or not at all. This makes the site virtually inaccessible. It's like the ad content has run amok. The phenomenon is consistent in IE8, Safari 5.0 and Chrome 5.0.

Thanks for letting us know.
Because I can't replicate this, can you send me a screen shot next time you see these ads that don't appear normal or if you have any other ad-related problems? You can email me directly at "". Thanks! |
