Link your FT account with Facebook?

Just had it appear on FT when browsing. When I clicked got an error message regarding invalid API. What is this?

I'm guessing it is another "enhancement."

i REALLY dont like that it is auto clicking / redirecting.

something keeps appearing in my history, even though im not clicking on anything.

this - http://mc8tdi0ripmbpds25eboaupdulrit...ken=1934965686

would also be nice not to have it there on every screen all the time.

We'll be posting an announcement in the next 10 minutes.

I'd like to know how to get rid of the banner ad.

Especially since I don't have, and I do not want, a Facebook account.

Oh joy. You've just made the concept of surfing Flyertalk from work an absolute pain. Unsurprisingly, Facebook is blocked by our office firewalls. As such, every time I navigate to a new page on Flyertalk, I'm now confronted by a log in box for my corporate firewall proxy, which I have to then navigate out of. As such, moving between pages, posting etc is now slow.

Really resent this.

Wastes space on my screen. Irrelevant (don't use Facebook) and no clear way how to disable it.

Very annoying indeed.

Get IE7 Pro with ad blocker. All I see is the text in a small space and nothing more.

But I can tell you that most corporate firewalls block facebook and mine is no exception. There is no way I will link my 2 accounts together.

In other words, this is a useless enhancement, I would bet, for most people.

Thanks - actually I just tried this myself before reading your post. Yep the button disappears and the line narrows a bit. I use Firefox, BTW and am using ....... to do this.

Query why those who essentially make a website what it is should need to make modifications on their own side of an interface so that they may feel comfortable in continuing to contribute to said website?

Look at LRD's posts #7 and #13 in http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/techn...nnect-faq.html

In FF we can get rid of the whole thing, if you don't mind using FF. (Perhaps there is an IE7 method too.)
