Right. So in other words "you know it when you see it," right?

My reasoning: The objective numbers (post counts) were low. So I looked for a good number of passionate advocates who would use the forum. Passionate users are the life of any forum, and you need perhaps a dozen highly active contributors to really keep the ball rolling. Otherwise interest tails off and the forum essentially dies.

I didn't see that level of passion for a LAN forum here on TBT. I absolutely saw it for Fairmont.

The third criterion is whether the posts in question have a reasonably good home in the absence of a forum. In this case, they do.

Please don't interpret this as a slight of any sort. It's merely a judgment call on how FT can be structured to best serve our members.

And in mine too, although IMHO precedence should be given to FFP forums over special interest forums. Too bad we couldn't have had a better LANding on this motion.

I daresay there is more LAN demand then that joke of a forum "Travel with Pets." Anyone been over there lately? Yikes.

I think this is a valid point regardless of the level of activity. I recall there used to be a forum for Seniors, under special interests I think, but it did not have much activity and seems to have disappeared.

Seems like there would be at least one passionate member.

I tried. I thought it was time. I'd hardly call myself passionate, but it is the airline I fly long haul the most these days. And for better or worse, over the past several years, I've become one of the Chile and LAN resident experts, often having to answer my own questions that no one else could answer. But now, a lot more people can answer the questions, and find answers.

Ironically, this entire thing started in late 2001 when I had a SFO/CPT trip booked in BA F using AS miles, and before I got off the phone with the agent, BA kicked one of the segments back as unable to confirm (after it already had). I asked "where else can I go in F?" After a short while later, I was on my first longer trip to Chile. 15 or so visits later, almost every trip on LAN, it is time for a forum!

Maybe soon.

How many airlines are profitable and pay dividends? That is worth a forum in and of itself!

I realise that there will be disappointment with the 'LAN evangalists' and I wanted to explain a little about my vote. My reasons were:

- LAN has a small (but granted expanding) network
- There have not been a lot of posts about LAN, although this may change.

If we see an upswing of interest in LAN over, say the next 6 months, I'd be up for a revisit of this vote.

Yes, this is real problems lot of those members are trying to padding someone the post count. So unfortunately, that I can't help them to creating new LAN Forums. That's why it was causing too much problems onto ONA&SA thread. I didn't like it for me at all. This is not appreciate it for LAN forums is not able to create new LAN forums. So however, it will try again in the future if the post have to be merge. They will able to accepted it for awhile.
