Just throwing this out here - I've tried FT chat many times, and nobody has been on there. Ever. Not a single person. Not even in the Moderator chat rooms. Just a thought maybe to organize a date and time to have a bunch of people log on there or possibly closing it? I don't recommend closing but if it's really that ditched....

Just because you have not encountered anyone, it doesn't mean it's not used. Try around 11 eastern mid week for best chance, but no guarantee of finding it in use

I totally agree Gaucho.... I have some very fond memories and met some great people after chatting.
However, my most memorable chats were those that occurred on September 11th. That was when this community came together. We kept each other up to date and found ways to help stranded members....

. Its still a riot NOW ^.Of course, my work hours get in the way of me getting in there every day, since I need to be online around 2pm SYD to see the regulars
. Sometimes I am lucky enough to find NZ chat partners online around 5-6pm SYD too.I would HATE to see chat shut down
. It needs an upgrade to bring it into the present day, plus they need to fix the lock out issues when you get booted accidentally from the chatroom. But shutting it down is extreme!

Can you provide more info? You don't 'sign up' for chat, but sign in. As a # of people have posted in this thread, there are certain days/times that people are likely to be on chat. Are you on chat during those times? If not, then maybe that's a reason. Also, weekends are less busy, although if they are it's later when people are getting in from going out for the evening. Weekdays are what people posted. No, there are no other flyertalk chat rooms other than on flyertalk. Cheers.
