another nice example of a thread that would be "at home" in a Gaming Loyalty Program Forum.

Now, before anyone jumps on me, by mentioning the above thread does NOT relate to gaming loyalty.....

well, of course it does, the thread just hasn't gotten to the point of discussing comps (and loyalty points) based on pai gow tiles action versus other table games, such as craps and blackjack.

I'm NOT sure why I keep trying to justify this board.

Though, quite frankly, I really don't mind keeping these discussions in the Vegas forum --- since it is one nice compact place to look for "gambling stuff" on FlyerTalk.

I do have issues, with moving Atlantic City topics out of the Vegas forum (to the Mid-Atlantic Forum). I totally understand the logic, but I so seldom think of looking there for anything "gaming" related --- I often feel it's lost. But, that probably is just me; as I could see a newbie to FlyerTalk potentially wandering to Mid-Atlantic to find Atlantic City and Connecticut casino details.

FWIW, the recommendation to create the forum was made to Randy & the FT management team. I know that they were waiting for a little while with the new software before adding fora. I'll post in the private forum to see if we can get an update on this.

That's my impression as well. This new forum and the image capabilities in the test forums were kind of waiting for the new software to kick in.

THANKS!

As I said above,

I really don't mind keeping these discussions in the Vegas forum --- since it is one nice compact place to look for "gambling stuff" on FlyerTalk.
I just feel if this recommendation from the TB has been "killed" by "management" (for whatever reason), that should be disclosed, so we can put the topic (and this thread) to rest.

edit to add : of course, based on the posts directly above, maybe I'm not being very patient.

If it was killed by management, nobody has notified TB of it's demise.

I am hopeful that the delay is indeed related to future implementation plans rather than putting it into indefinite suspension (does anyone recall the TB-Approved Duty Free forum?).

I'm not going to be a big user of the forum but would like to keep some discussion going of the loyalty programs for the Macau operations.

PS. Crown Towers won another 'best hotel' award last week. For its location and popularity, I hope there is a place for discussing this loyalty program, too. ^

I don't believe the TalkBoard ever approved a Duty Free forum. I just checked the voting records and don't believe I saw anything about a Duty Free forum being voted on and/or passed.

The Duty Free Forum was approved. It was in 2004 and was the idea of hfly , who was a TalkBoard member at the time.

The reason that it was never created is that nobody could figure out exactly how it should operate. There is just so much that can be discussed, for example, about the Tel Aviv Duty Free Shop having reduced prices on Brut After Shave.

It was clear that this forum would need a different type of formula -- perhaps something closer to a Wiki -- but in Nov 2005 a new TalkBoard was elected, hfly was not a member, and the idea just fell by the wayside.

BTW, the records of votes Bhatnasx linked to only started in December 2005. It was begun by Attorney28, who was the TalkBoard Vice President and spokesman at the time.

Earlier decisions had been posted on The Town Hall, but there were always problems in getting that page updated. I just looked at it a few moments ago and it says "Note that info on this page is kept for archive purposes" but all the info has disappeared.

Apparently there are still technical problems with it.

Thanks, bhatnasx and dovster.
(OT, the Duty Free discussion is mostly beneficial to people like hfly, myself and OzStamps when we would occasionally find something for 50-70% off like the JW Blue, in Shanghai DF vs. Sydney retail)

I hope this forum's creation (or not) is not left to fail at the end of the current TB.

In the meantime, is it worthwhile to concentrate some info of value (or links to programs, contacts, hosts etc) into a FT gaming programs wiki page?

I'd like to know why, personally. I think the people who were for this and the TalkBoard itself deserves to have this addressed.

I must have missed that official announcement by TB... thanks for this update.
It would be good to read official confirmation if TB or Randy have made a public statement about tjos proposal.

I'll be away from FT for much of the weekend, so I wish you all well.
