Voting Complete - Motion Passed: Permit Test of Photos in 4 Forums
Moved by Spiff and seconded by Jenbel:
"that the TalkBoard recommends expanding graphics capabilities to the following four forums: CommunityBuzz! , Flying Blue (and subforums), Starwood and Luxury Hotels. Graphics added to posts must respect the FlyerTalk TOS. If no serious problems arise after a three month trial, the TalkBoard may recommend that graphics may be added to other forums."
This poll will close on Jun 2, 08 at 6:37 am (EDT)

How were Flying Blue and Luxury Hotels chosen?
(C-buzz I understand.)

Spec for the photos?
Do we want to impose the spec (size & pixels) on those photos, similar to what birdstrike did with the 4th FlyerTalk Photo Contest, so it will be more manageable?
Or does TB want this test to be kind of an open field?

Has any consideration been given to the thumbnail option? I posed a link to a forum that uses that method, a 3 or 4k thumbnail is automatically generated, linking to a jpg, gif or bmp of max 195k and 800 x 800. The software exists to do this.

Personally, I am not a fan of the one picture per post limit.
If someone has a few pictures to include, I would rather have them in one post... than see several more posts.

Seconded. Such a limitation would essentially make it impossible to craft an informative (with sufficient photos) thread on matters as straightforward as the difference between various meal presentations (like CO's Cold Plate/Midcon/Midcon Plus/Transcon/International Business/Business First). That's one area that I can think of (off the top of my head) that would be greatly enhanced by a simple photo slideshow, where text wouldn't do the subject justice.

I agree, the one picture per post limitation seems unnecessary. I understand it is probably meant to signal a compromise, but...
Also, seems like the three fora were chosen rather arbitrarily? I nominate the LH forum!

I too think a limit of 1 photo per post is too low and counter-productive.

I agree on the 1/post rule and would vote to reject this motion based on that limitation alone. That said, I am still strongly in favor of being able to use images in more forums.
I would be in favor of a picture size limit. 800px in the longest dimension would be enough, and about 250-300KB size.

FWIW, in the current way that this motion is written, I would vote no.
I'm not sure where I'm at on the one per post rule & I think that these sample fora are poor choices to be representative of FlyerTalk & its userbase.
I have not made a counter proposal at this time because I don't believe it would be benefical. If this motion does not pass (in its current form), I would not be opposed to having another motion made which better serves this spirit of this motion.

The way this motion is worded, it is worthless, IMHO. We need more pics.
Also, what are the metrics that will define success/failure of the "test?"

My concern is that these haven't been defined (and can they be numerically defined? Probably not). I think the success/failure will be the feedback we get from members, moderators, and our own personal thoughts.
