(Voting Completed: Motion Passed) Should Travel Photography be a full forum?

Currently, the Travel Photography forum is a sub-forum of Travel Tech. It has been suggested that it is sufficiently different, and busy enough, to warrant being a full, stand alone forum.

We'd like to hear member's thoughts on this suggestion?

Although it does have technical overtone (with photography be wide and deep as any other thing in the world), Photography in itself can be delinked successfully with the main Travel Technology Forum.

Admittedly when I started out on FlyerTalk, this was one of the first places I went to (after my usual home of the BMI Board), was the Photography forum, as its a good outlet to share work and ask questions.

This could be a good move to give it more the forum more exposure to the rest of FlyerTalk.

Defiantly a good idea ^

It's a good idea. IMHO, the TP sub forum and its users would benefit from a higher profile.

Perhaps because I do not see a real difference between a full forum and a subforum, I have no strong feeling about this issue. One could argue that photography is more than just technology, but most of the topics deal with technical issues.

Add my vote to promote TP up to a full forum - it's been one of the more successful new forums introduced lately.

I totally agree with this.

I am against subforums in general because of the way they screw up the display of last posts... and the fact that the subforums do not show up on the list of forums... you do not see it until you click on the parent forum.

So, it would be easy for a member to miss a subforum and not even know it exists.

I wish the Talkboard would pass a motion to NEVER do another subforum....

+1. I'd love to see it stand alone.

I never liked the idea of sub forums. They sometimes make it hard to easily find what you want.

As a participant in the TP forum, I strongly believe that it should stand alone

I also vote to have TP as a stand-alone forum.

I also think it should be a stand-alone forum. The original impetus for the TP Forum was that it would address topics that weren't properly the purview of Travel Technology, e.g. where are good places to shoot, what museums allow tripods and what don't, composition critiques, etc.

Exclamation

Coincidentally, this proposal arises within days of a new TSA policy on lithium batteries, which could significantly impact professional and pro-sumer photographers and videographers. We're still weeks away from fleshing out the global fallout of the policy. But I can easily foresee a few handfuls of threads so specific to needs of this travel sub-group that they may be better suited to the proposed forum.

Regardless of this consideration, speaking from under my general member hat, I'm in favor of a stand alone forum.
