When the credit card forums were redone, I don't know what the thinking was for naming The American Express Membership Rewards forum. My take on that title is that it's only for the membership rewards amex card. But a lot of the threads deal with other amex cards, e.g., SPG and Hilton. It makes more sense to me to rename the forum American Express cards.

The thinking, for what it's worth, is that the forums are organized around programs -- so Diners Club has a program, Membership Rewards is a program, and the other cards forum is for those other proprietary programs out there like PremierPass, Worldpoints, etc.

Now in practice each forum takes on a personality of its own, as a result of the members who frequent it and guided by a moderator (or simply by senior mods responding to report posts). And so sometimes the forum will stretch beyond its original plan or mandate.

But the idea was to organize around points programs, not flavors of cards themselves. After all, SPG Amex is also oft-discussed in the Starwood forum, the DL Amex in the Delta forum, the HHonors Amex in the Hilton forum, etc.

Thanks, gleff. That makes sense, although two of the three threads don't really revolve around the intended programs. Maybe a descriptive line would help focus them. Or moving threads like SPG amex to the Starwood forum and United Visa to the UA forum, so all that info is in one place. Just a thought.

It seems to me that the forums need to be more closely defined/described or renamed. As it stands, threads about cobranded cards are all over the board, making it harder to find info.
