Question What is OMNI?

I keep hearing the word OMNI mentioned. I am not sure if this is the right place to ask the question, but what is OMNI?

LagunaBeach....OMNI is a forum to discuss everything under the sun except miles and points. It's a forum that "magically" appears after six months and 180 posts on FlyerTalk.
According to your current profile, OMNI will suddenly appear for you on 12/16/05.
But if you joined FlyerTalk to learn and share experiences for maximizing airline and hotel miles and points, OMNI will not add anything to that endeavor.
Consider it a diversion and break from the main purpose of FlyerTalk.

I beg to differ, sure, it won't help you with miles and points, but another purpose of FT is to foster this on line community, and I've made some friends because of OMNI (you can include yourself in that list )

So, it's not a complete waste of time

Just stay away from the religious/ssm/political threads

I thought it was 90 days/90 posts? No?

You forgot to add that it's also an excellent way to earn a ride in Randy's RV......

The 90/90 rule is for, I believe, the Coupon Connection forum.
OMNI stands at 180 days and 180 posts.

The RV is not the worst part, the one way ticket to bannedsville is what people should worry about

Then again, I've seen people come back from Bannedsville more times than Freddie/Jason have come back from the dead

OMNI = Black Hole of Calcutta

Much like the private TalkBoard forum.

Actually OMNI is treasure trove of help by others. For instance, i recently have been acquiring African collectibles and was getting frustrated by being out bid at the last second by someone on eBay (yes, i may be the last person on earth to participate in this Web site) and used Google to try and find some bidding software which i assumed was what was being used by the others for their last minute bids. So my "managing eBay bidding" search got me 297,000 results. After 20 or more minutes i gave in. I was lost in the topic and really didn't know what i was looking for. So i explained my dilemma on OMNI (something i couldn't explain to Google) and had three replies with great advice and information and an explanation to what i was looking for as well as links..... all within 5 minutes or so. It turned out i needed 'sniper' software and certainly even with Google would not have known what to search for. Well, I've now won 12 of 15 bids on collectibles - got a real steal on Senufo Rhythm Pounder - and have become a real fan of OMNI.

P.S. and those that answered my question in OMNI were very friendly. It is something to look forward to.

And because you may be wondering why the restrictions? One of them is because politics is a fairly popular topic, members would re-register a fake name to flame others over their opinions of donkeys and elephants as representative of the animal kingdom.

Like the Games and Dole, isn't that what entertains the masses there?

Should I ask about the Sheraton hotel choice in Calcutta/Kolkata in OMNI or on the SPG forum? Or is that a Black Hole too? Maybe I'll just ask in the "India"/Travel Destination forums -- which thankfully are seeming to generate more interest in parts that were rather quiet in years past.

I don't know about Games, but even with Viagra I doubt that Dole is capable of entertaining masses.
