Obviously, I can't read their minds but I can take a guess: I don't think they feel that they will have the votes, no matter how it is worded.
Doc, Oz, and A28 voted in favor of it. WHarvey has given hints that he would vote in favor of a revised motion but he also said the wording was "one of the reasons I voted against this motion" which indicates to me that he had other reasons as well. I would have to count him as a "possible" only.
I have seen absolutely nothing from the other TB members which makes me believe that they would support the new motion.
Six "Yes" votes (assuming that at least 8 TB members vote) will be needed to pass the motion.
If I were in either Oz's or A28's shoes right now, I would not second the motion either -- at least not until I saw more support for it.
<snip>
Right now, I think that Doc's motion would be defeated with either another 3-6 vote or, at best, a 4-5 vote. Hopefully, somewhere along the line more TB members will be convinced that it is an advisable step and then, and only then, would it be sensible to hold a second vote.
In fact Camera Guy got that precise answer from me only a week or so back, (below) but he far prefers riding his Black Helicopter around and around, than reading clear responses to the same questions he asks ad nauseum.
TalkBoard is not there to simply waste everyone's time running the same motion once a week to amuse Camera Guy or others.
If something fails 3/6 it will fail forever unless at least three TB members indicate they have totally changed their views.
I do not see anywhere 3 TB members posting they now want the private forum opened for "read only" viewing by members.
So, posting any motion to a vote to that effect is (IMHO) simply wasting all our time, and diverting us from other more pressing matters in front of us.

We just had a vote which went as outlined in post #1:
Yes: attorney28, doc, ozstamps
No: Cholula, gleff, missydarlin, ScottC, Spiff, wharvey
Unless 3 of the 6 that voted against it were to indicate they have been persuaded to have a change of mind on approving the matter of a 'read only' TalkBoard private forum for all members, for all new threads, it would be a waste of time don't you agree to run a new vote and likely get the same result?
I do see wharvey posted above he seemed to indicate he may have voted differently had the wording differed, ("I do not have a problem with any new Threads started after such a vote passes assuming that is even technically feasible") but I do not see comments from the other 5 who voted it down, so can only assume their position is unchanged.
The motion failed. C'est la vie.

So, the transparency "advocates" get to say they "tried", when in my OPINION all evidence points to the contrary.
