Misposted topics
I have several times questioned placement of posts, especially MilesBuzz. At first I did this with too much discussion. More recently I have just ?????????? the post category selected.
Many times the poster or commenters have objected to my comments. Today I received my first e-mail from a FTer suggesting I stop this activity. I have received a few the other way. I wish to post my e-mail reply with everyone who is interested enought to read it. Hopefully this is the right forum for this reply:
I am a charter participant to FT, joining before they started all this count, categories and member since..
I often offer advice and help on travel in AU, NZ, HA, FLA and CA. Also on UA and AS. Hotel post are mainly Hyatt, Hilton and rarely, MarriottI Also offer thing for FREE on the coupon exchange. These have included first class upgrades, you know the stuff some offer in exchange for a free ticket or something of the like. I contribute to MilesBuzz and TravelBuzz when I have something useful and write up any material trips to share with others. The very first post (I am sure) on purchasing bonds with affinity cards on line was mine. Now it is a common and repeated post.
I have also garnered a wealth of information from other FT participants.
For your information, I am encouraged by other FTers and moderators to post my ???????, as they too are tried of lazy, thoughtless people who refuse to take the time to post to the appropriate category. You, however are the first to e-mail me suggesting I stop. Mind you, several have said so on the post, so you are not alone. My vindication is that most posts to MilesBuzz are moved. Doesn't that tell you something?
Finally as to the cc example. If the post is about getting miles or miles posting or the like you are right. But if it is service, cost, best, etc. then it belongs in another category befitting the main trust. Obviously, by your suggestion, anything could belong to MilesBuzz and that is not why so many spent so much time to generate so many (too many in my opinion) categories.
I would like everyone to take a second out and post in the appropriate topic. Then both the monitors and I would save some effort. Also more time efficient use of FT could be had by all.
Maybe I have changed your mind, maybe not...at least you have my explaination and a better understanding of my motivations.
