Do I need a passport?

For once and for all, if I am traveling from the US to St. Lucia for my honeymoon, do I need a passport or not? I have heard conflicting stories. Some say you have to have a passport, some say a certified birth certificate, photo ID, and a return ticket is sufficient. Which is it?

Wirelessly posted (Vodafone/1.0/HTC_diamond/1.37.163.4/Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows CE; IEMobile 8.12; MSIEMobile 6.0) UP.Link/6.3.1.20.06.3.1.20.0)

passport cards aren't valid for air travel. if the OP is flying then it must be a passport book.

Donald,

Welcome to Flyertalk. Your question was posted in a community related board, rather than a more dedicated travel forum. As it has been answered, I'll close it here.
