Website is Useless

This new website is a total disaster. I haven't been able to access it once without the computer closing down on me, and it's pissing me off in the extreme. I really wish I hadn't continued to waste time and energy in Swiss. I am also completely opposed to this pale Low Cost imitation: the tickets have to be sold as RTs to benefit from the low prices. If you go and come the same day you pay a ridiculous price. If you combine classes, and go one direction in C, you have no flexibility whatsoever: the Y-class rules apply.

That sounds like the rest of Europe. It's not just confined to SWISS's tickets. Unless you really opt for low cost carriers like EASYJET.

An apology for the website's performance, in my e-mail just now.

***************************

Dear Mr. (Fraisse10)
SWISS launched their new website and booking engine last week. Due to the
success of the advertising the hits reached an unexpectedly high numbers with a
twenty-fold increase, which was 4-5 times higher than expected.
The servers have now been adapted and you shouldn't experience any further
problems anymore.

SWISS' new booking engine makes booking easier and faster, with the new "book by
fare" option. Please try to logon again and enjoy the benefits of the new
www.swiss.com/uk.

SWISS is looking forward to welcoming you online.

Kind Regards

Richard Castle

Well, it works sometimes, but not always. I managed to secure a BSL-DUS Round Trip at CHF49 per sector (CHF147 incl. tax for whole trip), so I'm somewhat mollified. However, I note the flights are operated by Crossair Europe both ways. I had no idea that they still existed: I thought that they had gone the way of all good things.

At least the web site at Easyjet works wonderfully well. There was an article in the paper about the web site not working. Bookings I think are up 25%.

It does not give confidence in management. Another example of questionable management: an attendant told me that they fired so many crew that on my flight GVA to FCO they could only find 1 instead of the usual 2.

EasyJet's website is the only airline website that works as it should (in Europe. I cannot comment for those in the USA). Nothing comes close to it in efficiency and user-friendliness. The likes of Air France, Tyrolean and Air Littoral should be scrapped.
