"Gigantic" staff cuts and new product mix expected
According to the "SonntagszeJitung" (6/22/03 edition) jobcuts for 3000 to 3500 employees are expected, along with fleet reductions to 18 long-distance, 20-22 medium-distance, 19 regional jets, 16 EMBs.
Further a business plan forsees intra-European discount operations along-side a premium long-distance product. A product mix no other carrier achieved sofar.

Chuck I am sure others can tell you better than me. In short, big reductions in fleet size and employees. Will offer no-frills service in Europe but premium long haul service. Majority of flights in Basel to be cut. We will know on the 23rd Tuesday. Being hurt by many uncontrollable factors.

guessing game: which destinations will be cancelled? (from my swiss bank's newswire, quoting the weekly 'Cash')
SWISS soll 38 Destinationen streichen
