Question re business class on the A340
I might fly in J on the A340 this fall between SFO and ZRH. Assuming the single seats in that section are available, is there any problem getting them at time of ticketing? I ask because, while with most airlines this is simple enough, BA can charge extra for specific seat assignments for folks who aren't elite members of its FF program.
Also, among the single seats, any particularly good or bad ones?
FWIW, I'm a Star Alliance Gold and might be buying the ticket through Orbitz.
Thanks for any help!

Many people consider even numbered A seats especially 4A and 6A to be the best Business seats (followed by the rest of even numbered A seats), but they may only be available to M&M *G at the time of booking. I personally prefer odd numbered K seats with the window on the right and a table between the seat and the aisle.

No, LX does not charge for seat assignment but you will probably have to call them to have a seat assigned.

The affectionately referred to "thrones" have limited footwell space for sleeping -- so perfect for daytime, not for overnight in my view.
I also prefer the larger cabin over the smaller one due to the latter having proximity to the C class galley and the lavatorial facilities.
