Would it be possible to reduce the minimum search term length to two (2) characters instead of the current four (4)? The reason for this is that the majority of my searches include either a three character airport code or a two character airline code... neither of which is included in the search. Surely the additional load on the search DB table wouldn't be unbearable.
A good example of this is searching the "Mileage Run Deals" forum for 'UA' (as in, all MRs on United), results in:
The search term you specified (UA) is under the minimum word length (4).
or 'LAX' (as in, all MRs to/from LAX), results in:
The search term you specified (LAX) is under the minimum word length (4).
I think lowering this to a two char minimum would also help a lot of posters in finding identical posts and would reduce the duplicates.

You may wish to check out the Technical Issues forum... this has been asked many times over. Reducing the search parameters did not keep you from finding all those threads...
(could not resist!).
In addition, a test last month of the 3 character search caused some problems.... cannot imagine what a 2 letter search would do....

Haha... I'll try harder with the searches next time
As long as it is on some todo list, I'm happy!

The "three letter" search introduced last month is an entirely new implementation. That search is still available on the advanced search page as IB Beta Search. Many of the problems encountered during the initial test have been resolved. And, happily, I just checked it out and its does index 2 letter search terms. Try it out.
