How is a SMALL imbedded ad irrational????????????????????
What is irrattional is the intense dislike of these ads.

I dare say that you're in the minority on this position, however.

I really don't mind the ads at all.
Sure, it would be great if there were no advertising in the threads or anywhere else. In fact, it would be great if Randy could have a direct OC12 line from his servers to my home and office to speed things up. None of those ideas is reasonable, however.
If Randy, et al., want to offer a paid membership without ads and free membership with ads, that would be a good solution, as well.

Things we don't want:
1. We don't want big banner ads as they slow down the site.
2. We don't want pop up ads because they are annoying.
3. We don't want imbedded ads because they look tacky.
4. We don't want to pay for FlyerTalk because, well, we come to this board to learn how to get things without paying.
5. We don't want to see Randy in bankruptcy court.
I don't see how we can have numbers 1 through 4 without increasing the chances of number 5.
(On the other hand, the ad offering to teach Mary2E how to flirt is a waste of time. She has been hitting on me ever since I came to the board. Not only does she know how to flirt but she has incredibly good taste in men.)

However, what is annoying is that Circuit City add that popped a splash screen across my desktop today. ... is up with that?

Just when you thought that it couldn'tget any worse...
Bump, in light of today's new ultra-intrusive "embedded" ads.

As if the ads imbedded within posts are not bad enough, some now even contain pictures.
So now I have to look at Hillary Clinton's mug when reading FT.
Really, really bad move.

Cactuspete...
I have to say you have just given me the laugh of the day. Seriously.
Actually, this should be considered FT's post of the day ^^
I've said it before, we all need to grow a thicker skin and stop screaming when we see things we don't like. It happens to all of us. Some chose to ignore it, some make an issue out of it. I'm happier ignoring it.
