Expanded Airport Coverage for LocalTalk

I would like to suggest that the scope of two heavily-transited areas be expanded to allow additional airports.

The existing Los Angeles LocalTalk forum is for LAX, BUR, and LGB. I would suggest renaming it "Southern California" and adding SNA and ONT. As a resident of Los Angeles, I have flown out of all five of these airports more than once; I believe fellow FTers would be able to offer advice on any topic covering these five airports as well within such an expanded forum.

I feel less strongly about taking the San Francisco LocalTalk of SFO, SJC, and OAK and renaming it "Greater Bay Area" and adding SMF. It's a bit of a reach, I suppose, but I have also flown into SMF and then driven to the East Bay Area when I could not get a flight into OAK.

Anyhow, thanks in advance for considering this.

Please take these out of Local Talk and give Airports their own top level heading. Local Talk is killing these boards.

I guess that the logic behind the current naming is to use the largest city in the area, so Los Angeles for southern CA, San Francisco for northern -- by the same token our hometown airport COS is in Denver and all the airports around NYC are under New York, even if they actually in Newark. If we changed it for California, we'd probably have to change it for every other area of the world.

DCPREMEX,
Not sure why you think the location for Airports is so bad -- seems to us to be equivalent to where they were located under the old system.

John, thanks for your response and consideration.

I'll concede the naming of the forum, but I still would like to suggest that questions and discussions for SNA and ONT belong in the LocalTalk - Los Angeles Forum and should be encouraged to be held there. I believe that's how the forum was before the conversion.

I'll use this thread from TravelBuzz! as as example. The discussion begins with ONT, but is has since covered LAX, BUR, LGB, and SNA as a natural progression of discussion. Compared to other posts in the LocalTalk - LA Forum, I think it matches their scope and tenor.

Anyhow, I'll let you have the last word on this.

Thanks again.
