The new set up is great from the standpoint of finding specifics for what you might want, but I find that I don't just browse through each of the additional travel boards even though I might well have an experience and/or expertise that might help. Under the "old" ways you could easily browse the whole list of topics under, say, travel and see an interesting topic -- but now you have to check asia, europe, london, etc. Again while it's great to be specific I think that each topic gets much less viewing and thus less input. I don't know what the real answer is here -- these are just a few thoughts.

I think the new set-up is terrific. I just breeze through each of the topics (airlines, hotels, then go to Flyer Talk Travel and stop at the areas I'm interested in) and don't have to struggle through, e.g., "General Travel Talk" to find areas of interest.

What we have tried to do is get ahead of the curve of posts on FT. For instance, when we first launched FlyerTalk, we could have simply left all the posts in one big forum rather than divide them up among program forums and topics like S.P.A.M., Buzz!, News, etc. but we got lucky and you really don't see anyone complaining about the way it works there. For travel, you simply cannot look at today. Think what this will be like one year from today. We had some 50,000 posts in General TravelTalk without promoting it in it's first year, We'll probably add 100,000 more posts in the next year in the category. All that in one forum? I think as time goes on and the number of posts in each forum blossoms, you'll be thankful we made the change when we did.

Also.....look at other general travel Web sites like fodors.com, travel at Yahoo! and travel at AOL. Do you see anything constant? Much like the orginal FT, you learn not from change, but from the standard.
