Travelling with pets?

There is a travelling with children forum what about travelling with pets. It takes quite some time to determine each airline's policy and many pet owners on flyertalk I am sure would be pleased to share information.

This is important when thinking about miles - for example, United will let you carry on a pet to any destination (probably except UK), American will only allow it in the US, Canada, Carib and Mexico, however if you want to use AA miles and get to Europe with your carry on pet you can do so on Finnair, Iberia or Swiss....

I'd be happy to put a few posts in to provide the information I am aware of.
