Question regarding the FT TOS
The FT TOS states the following:
Does removing posting privileges include removing permission to use FT chat too? The description of a timeout is not clear in that. I would think that with a timeout a complete ban of FT resources would be imposed.
Thanks,
Scott

Q: Is there a formal discipline policy for members who don't follow the rules?
A: Yes there is. Any member whose behavior causes disruption on the message boards, either because of the tone and language of their posts or their attitude toward other members, may lose their posting privileges for one week. Members who become disruptive a second time are issued a one-month timeout. A third strike results in a permanent withdrawal of the offending member's posting privileges.

It does not appear that that is the case, Scott. I have seen several timed-out (even banned) folks on chat.

I think that if you are banned/barred you should banned from all "services".

I agree with Punki. Besides, who are we trying to keep away from Chat?

Why the riff-raff, of course!
While it appears, as Punki says, that timeouts do not explicitly include a "do not Chat" order, I believe the gist of the question is more along the lines of whether a timeout is supposed to include banning from Chat, and if that is the case, then perhaps it needs to be explicitly stated (at least to the people being served a timeout).

Would a "complete ban of FT resources" make reading FT a no-no as well?

I did get an email yesterday from a banned member regarding one of my posts. I don't think anybody is proposing installing IP blocking software to prevent reading of FT!
(Although responses to Coupon Connection postings by banned members may not really be in the spirit of the ban.)

I appreciate (regarding coupon requests etc) emails from banned members still more, then 'begging'-emails from (completly unknown to me and never having posted) FT-lurkers (and I get, at least, 1/week).

It's not because we missed something. The chat board is a separate application which does not tie in with the database of members for FT, which is why those members can use chat. If we can can ever make this integrated, we will. For the most part, those banned are not that criminal, they simply have not understood I and many other members are not interested in their inability to play well with others. It's so simple - enjoy the topics and information, and enjoy those members you find compatible to your lifestyle. Ignore all others.
