Apparently there is an important issue being overlooked here. While the topic screams that NINE threads were locked - that message seems to indicate that these topics were moderated off the planet earth. Rather than being lazy, i went to look at those NINE locked threads and I noticed something nice about them. All except one was actually closed. The other eight indicated at the top of the thread that it had been transferred to another more appropriate forum. So rather than being NINE locked down threads, I found eight threads continuing but having been locked down, at least it gave me a trail to follow in case i was interested since i can now go and red the threads in their appropriate place. The one thread no transfered was a bit of mouthing off and surely no one here is suggesting that is over-moderation. As far as missing anything in other forums? I guess I must be in a minority - I have since started using FT, relied on using the "Most Active Threads" link at the top of each Board. This nifty little feature allows me to see what is happening in all forums at the same time, sort of like MilesBuzz! would be if there was only one forum on FT. From there I'm only one click away from any discussion and yes, just like being in any forum, it simply gives me the subject, and after all, isn't that the driver for how we decide which threads to eyeball? While probably bias, I like FT the way ti is with small changes as members have provided. Learning to use all the features and tools available makes that experience great for me.

MilesBuzz serves this purpose, but the relocated and locked threads tend to make people reluctant to bring good single- program deals to everyone's attention. This has resulted in less useful information on MilesBuzz than there used to be, IMHO. When people do cross-post on MilesBuzz, even when they post a link to the existing topic on the appropriate forum, we end up with discussions on two forums (e.g. the 25,000 mile NW Visa deal being discussed in the MilesBuzz and NW forums). These current features are great, but I think there might be a niche (somewhere in between all the day's active topics and the curtailed version MilesBuzz) for "Hot Topics" or something similar where important information can be flagged, but no further discussion is possible. Maybe Ft'ers or just the moderators could flag certain topics that could be listed if the user clicks on a "Hot Topics" link at the top level of each major board. |
I sure like seeing a good deal in Milebuzz.......but I agree the most active topics list is very long. Maybe it could just include the top 5 in each catagory, or just the top 25, period, in ALL catagories. Knowing which ones are getting the greatest % of hits would surely indicate a hot topic for the day.

The most active topis list is so very long, and it will often list things with one or two posts in a given day.
How's this: A new Forum called "Deals and Ideas". People can post anything here without fear of recrimination. If either (a) a certain number of people nominate this post to be moved, or (b) a moderator feels it BuzzWorthy it will be moved to MilesBuzz. Either that, or you can just leave deals and ideas alone and unmoderated. It's a more narrow category than MilesBuzz. |
