I'm confused. Discussions of which airline someone prefers to Asia goes in TravelBuzz and would get closed or moved in MilesBuzz (like the thread: Better Business Class product, CI or MH).

But discussions of the best business class seat on a 767-200 on AA, stays in the AA section under the FlyerTalk Miles forum, even though such a question belongs -- based on my reading and interpretation of the rules -- in the Airlines, hotels, Car rentals section of the FlyerTalk Travel Forum, where the definition is:

"Can we talk...about the best airline seats, inflight meal service (OK, it's a typo) and even those hotels who pamper us until no end. Oh, and should you decline the pre-pay gasoline offer with your next car rental."

Of course, if posted there, better not hope your flight is anytime soon, because the likelihood of a meaningful response is low.

Clearly, I'm not advising that such discussions be moved to this area...just as I think the definition of MilesBuzz should be broader and extended to Miles and Travel.

I do find the selective enforcement, troubling.

This is nologic here...I'm not sure you responded to my question: why do non-mileage travel questions belong in the airline forums but not in miles buzz, when there clearly is another proper place for those questions?

But my big question is what do you mean by:

Are you really saying that there's something that's made me not a true FF, or all true FF's think the same way?

Just what is a true FF?

People who agree with everything you say are true FFs and those that disagree are something alien?

With all due respect, I find the tone of your previous post not only condescending and defensive but rather divisive as well. Forgive me, but as a moderator I think you bear a little more responsibility than the rest of us lowly members (although we should all strive for this) not to foster the "us versus them" mentality that permeates your post above.

Just because we don't agree with your line of reasoning should not make us lesser individuals; it seems that's the case to you, which is a shame. To dismiss out-of-hand a group of people who, for better or worse, are trying to a provide for dialogue with the best interests of the "community" at heart is hardly constructive.

And as for your request for "evidence" substantiating nologic's claim about selective enforcement, just look at the boards! In just about every forum there are numerous posts that are outside the strict scope of the posting rules--or, according to those rules, would better fit somewhere else--yet some are moved, most aren't. The example he gave above is but one of many. While I'd love to provide a list, I'm afraid it would take me until next week to compile!

I have nothing but respect for those who volunteered for moderator positions. Admittedly, their work on these boards is (to this point) thankless, and it is occasionally controversial. One thing it should not be, in my opinion, is adversarial. It seems to me that you're taking every comment/suggestion about ways to improve the boards (at least, from those of us who feel they need improvement) personally, and are responding in kind. That's unfortunate. I expected better.

I didn't even know you were a moderator, not that that's too relevant, but it explains why you at least call yourself a true FFer.

But if I misuderstood or overinterpreted your post, it just shows how easy it is to make a pst which is offensive to others..in this case to me�even if you didn�t mean to be offensive (I have no idea what you really meant, because you haven�t responded). Still, I suspect that you didn't mean for your statement to come off sounding elitist vs. saying that there's some history here that old-timers may be aware of that relative new-comers may not be so knowledgeable about.

However, I have been pretty active since January, and I haven't seen any demonstrable problems...

On the other hand, I have experienced a significant degradation in the user experience since the new release.

Please don't take it personally�to the extent you personally participated in influencing the current design...it's not an insult if some people think it's not perfect.

At the end of the day what bothers me the most is not the original issues that got all these topics about locking or moving threads started, but the reticence of the powers that can move and lock threads to have the issue discussed; and the tone of their responses.

I tend to agree with nologic and superslug, though maybe for different reasons.
