Do we need Multiple Omnis?
I just happened to notice that the Omni sections in the Miles, Dining, Travel and Airport Forums are all the same forum. Do we need to have Omni in multiple places? I think many agree that one is more than enough!

It does seem confusing. Maybe creating new names for the Omni boards in "Travel", "Airports", and "Dining" may help. Omni has a long history in the old board as a junkyard, and people will probably still look for it in the "Miles" BB.

I previously suggested that we perhaps have slightly different and/or more descriptive names for each of these fora!

I for one am more than happy to have the Omni category appear everywhere. This will help shuttle all those posts that don't belong elsewhere into the big scrap heap...

the idea was to keep all that stuff in one place. While there are multiple links, they all contribute to the same topic. My instinct and the research we did says that multiple OMNIs, even with different names would be confuding and create bad search demands. Off-topic is off topic. Why not keep it only on Miles? Also in the research we did we found that there is likely to be a growing group of FlyerTalkers who only live on the Travel board. They have mild interest in miles, but are more comfortable in the General TravelTalk area. We wanted a few features that could exist regardless of what you may call your home page on FlyerTalk. OMNI as well as Trip Reports are likely two of those you'll see common among all the boards.
We'll certainly review any and all comments here and also ask that the new TalkBoard when it is elected review things like this that have come up. Please continue to bring these type of thoughts forward.

Randy, I never thought of people to be just a 1 Forum contributor. Multiple Omnis make complete sense to me in this new light.
However, they do not seem to be pointing to the same Omni Forum. If I go to Miles Omni, "Producers win TOny" is the top thread, while at the same time in Travel, Airport and Dining, a thread about Sandals and Socks is at the top.
This is the root for my thinking that multiple Omnis was a bad idea, b/c I wasn't seeing the same threads at the top.
I don't know if this is becoming a "Technical" problem at this point but to my novice eye, it looks as though they are pointing to different Omni fora(ums):
Miles: /forumcgi/forumdisplay.cgi?...
Travel: /travel/fttravel_forumcgi/forumdisplay.cgi?...
Dining: /dining/ftdining_forumcgi/forumdisplay.cgi?...
Airports: /airports/ftairports_forumcgi/forumdisplay.cgi?...
Does this make any sense?

As, I'd previously noted, cross "appearance" of the "OMNI" title across various forum titles with only one forum represents the best of all possible worlds for me!

Yet tech issues, and perhaps even a few others may also be most suitably presented in this manner as well, IMHO!
Yet if they are not going to end up in a combined/singular forum, then slightly different and descriptive titles would be very helpful, IMHO. For example, Gen Travel News vs Miles News!
