Chatbox "Lightbulb" ??
Randy & Crew;
Many times, when I've gone to the FT chatbox, hoping to meet up with other FTers for a live chat, I've found the chatbox totally empty--except for me--haven't yet come to the point of talking to myself. I'm sure this has happened to others here at times. After signing in to the chatbox, waiting for the Java plug-in to load, we find that there's no one home.
Would it be possible to add one of your little "lightbulbs" to the "Live Chat" line at the upper left of the forums section, so that when we get to the forums page, we can determine that there is someone else on the chatbox before we attempt to go there. This would save us an unneeded trip to an empty chatbox, if the bulb was not lit.

Oh boy - another chance for my favorite cause!
IF THERE WERE SOUND in the chat room, you could minimize the chatroom and hear when someone else comes in
Michael, any update from digichat about when they are going to make their features compatible with the operating system most of the world uses?

svpii,
Glad SOMEONE reads the suggestion box sometimes. Now if we could just get a response from the powers that be, to our suggestions.
We'll have to talk about it sometime on the chatbox--I'm usually checking it about 2 or
3 A.M. Eastern Time, because of late work hours. If you happpen to be around, join me for a chat--maybe we'll even find some other FT night-owls willing to join us.

I usually check in early in the evening east coast time. Maybe 8-9-10pm.

I used to drop into the chat room frequently, but generally found no one there. Any sort of system to advise that folks are "home" would be great!

Just bringing this forward again, after going to the chatbox several times in the last week or so, only to find no one there.
Still think the lightbulb idea would save us time looking if no one else is there, and maybe "invite" others to join in, if the lightbulb is lit.
Any chance it will be included in the new setup?

Blackjack, what I do is enter chat & move the box over to the right. Then, you can open a new window with the Bulletin board shifted slightly to the left, and cruise the boards. Anybody shows up in chat, their name pops up where you can see part of it. You click on the chat window and bingo, talk away. One warning: sometimes if you try to close the board window first, it logs you off completely... then it looks like you fled the new chatter. Ouch.

Thanks, LexPax, I'll give it a try. Don't enjoy "flying solo" in the chatbox. I'm not much of a chatter, but when I'm there, I enjoy saying hello to other FTers. Wife says I ramble on too much anyway, except when I'm playing blackjack--I prefer a quiet table.
