Reading from multiple computers
It would be better if the "last read" date were stored centrally rather than on each computer's cookie. That way it would work when I switched from desktop to laptop, etc.

Great suggestion, QL...
I've often thought about the same situation, but never bothered to mention it. Thanks.

I believe it is possible, the consequences being that anyone who visits the board would have to first log in and for many, that's an inconvenience. We're going to revisit this topic when UBB gives us the next full upgrade of this software.....But, you are right, when i change from office to home, there is a difference.....thanks.

Good idea QL! I too have to deal with this problem quite a lot because I read from both home and work. I would be very happy to login for each session to use a 'centrally stored' cookie, although I understand that others might not.

Another kudo for the great idea.
Being another multiple computer users I would appreciate logging in. The only question; Does this eliminate the lurkers?
Having been one in the past I wonder if I would have lurked if I had to register?

I think that FT could do something like many websites...
Have a log-on screen at the beginning. Everyone could log on then, so the cookie would be centrally stored.
Also have a GUEST button so lurkers can read without having to join.
But I love the UBB system more than any other, so if UBB can't handle it...
