FlyerTalk Weekly?

What do you think? We're throwing around the idea of writing a weekly newsletter on FlyerTalk. People would get it by email. They could use it for quick reference to get up-to-date on what's been happening on board for the last week, or two weeks, or whatever period of time we choose. The focus would be on providing information, but we'd make it fun, too--kind of like FlyerTalk.
I (Bryan) would probably be writing the bulk of it (since I'm the office addict) but I'd want to solicit letters/suggestions from everyone for content. In fact, a "guest opinion" each week would be great. I don't want to make it a HUGE undertaking, but if there's some interest we'll very likely go on with it.
Comments on the general description? Suggestions for departments/sections? Thanks in advance.

It sounds like a good idea Bryan and one section it should have is the "tip of the week" and "teh FlyerTalk Quote of the week" to end it.

The tip can be something one of the Flyertalkers discovered in their travels or a new way to earn miles or an alert (like the American Express M-R charges)

The Quote of the week should end the newsletter, something funny and wild and out there!

One more idea: the HOT TOPIC of the week -- What the flyertalkers are concerned about this week.

Just a few ideas thrown out there.

I think that would be an excellent idea that way if someone hadn't visited the board in a week they could get a quick rundown and find out if there are some bonuses out there that they need to know about.

Cheers Scott

While its a good idea for some - for me the book is always better than the movie.

A super idea for catching up quickly after time away - just be careful with how you select and edit material!.

Excellent idea. Perhaps certain board members would even be willing to help write/edit for the publication.

And it would seem that if the newsletter serves as a synopsis, or at least provides highlights, of recent board activity, that helps address some of my "wishlist" expressed in pushing for FT digests!

Sounds like a great idea to me. Some weeks I'm so busy I can only visit the board on weekends, and this would help immensely

Good idea. Helpful for times we can't access the web on a daily basis.

Thanks for the input. Let's set a tentative first-issue date for Sept. 1. The contents are open: a synopsis of the week's (two weeks?) top threads would be the meatiest part as I see it, and Catman's ideas are easy to implement, too. I hope people will send me their suggestions (it's a big board these days) and anything else they'd like to see included.

The first order of business is to set up a registration link, either on FT or on our Web site. I'll pass along the location as soon as it's up.

Please send anything to be considered for inclusion to: [email protected]

Further comments and suggestions are welcomed for the arturogram, I mean, NEWSletter!
