Suggestion to create auto alerts

Just today I read that the Marriott-AA partnership would be ending. I do not frequent this forum often and am lucky to have seen it. I was wondering if it would be possible to set up certain topics in each forums such as changes to FFP, and other newsworthy items. Whenever a thread on such a topics comes up a mod can assign the thread to the topic. FTers who subscribe to to these topics, should then be sent an alert in the form of a PM/email.

So for e.g., assume one of the auto alert topics in the AA forum was changes in AA's hotel partnerships and that I had subscribed to it. When the thread announcing the termination of Marriott - AA, an FTer could PM a mod and ask him/her to attach this thread to the AA's hotel partnerships topic. Once that is done, a PM should be sent to all FTer who subscribed to this topic. This way FTers can stay abrest of all developments.

Certainly an interesting suggestion with merit. This is one that will have to go into the "wish list," as it isn't something that could be easily or quickly accomplished.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Here is an alternative. How about starting two threads in each forum, one about news/developments in that airline/hotel and the other about promotions. Whenever a thread on this topic is started, anyone can post a link to the sticky and those who subscribe to it, will be alerted? No need for any coding. All those interested can subscribe to these threads.

Here's likely the best solution. Why not venture over to boardingarea.com and subscribe to the RSS feed:
feed://boardingarea.com/full-rss.php

A simple daily scan (just takes seconds) will likely alert you o some of the larger changes going on in the industry by those busy beaver bloggers. This can be read right into your email or whatever RSS reader you prefer.

might be a solution for the right now, and we'll continue to see if there isn't something wiser we can create.

Thanks.
