how about a mileage program for FlyerTalk?

IB could reward their good customers with some sort of point system. Those points would be redeemable for a variety of things, preferably travel.

Given that us customers are providing IB with good revenue, perhaps it is time to reward our loyalty?

Thoughts?

But the problem might certainly be, no points earned for those posting mainly in OMNI since you refer to the "variety of things, preferably travel," and as many of us know, OMNI, while a great resource for talking off-topic after talking travel, it has conversations which are mostly not involving travel. As for your statement of "customers are providing IB with good revenue", i think our goal as members of FlyerTalk is to provide and gain great travel knowledge to and from our other members. Perhaps I'm much different, but that is what I see in my participation in FlyerTalk, not back-of-mind loyalty to some revenue for anyone and I really don't participate to expect anything back I meet members all the time who thank FlyerTalk for what it has given them. I've not met one member yet who stills feels entitled to anything else. That just complicates things and we've always been a better community when we concentrate on things important to us -- travel knowledge. Just my thoughts.

How do you decide to allot points? Post count? Nominations?

I see it any point scheme as likely ripe for abuse; just look at what we do to the airlines.

Something along the lines of nominations would be best, I think. Particularly useful posts could be "thanked" or something along those lines. You wouldn't be able to take away other people's thanks, so it would be unlike reputation of previous versions of FT.
