What can you do? Passenger absolutely stank of BO. The plane was full so I could not move

I think you got the wrong subforum. But to answer the question, scented lip balm applied under your nostrils will help.
Prior to departure, you can ask a flight attendant to remove the passenger. You might not succeed, but it's in most airlines' contract of carriage that malodorous passengers will be denied boarding.

I second the suggestion that you carry a small container of Tiger Balm or Vicks VapoRub in your carry on kit.
