Finally, they have opened!

Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. announces the grand opening of a newly constructed Four Points by Sheraton hotel in Victoria, the capital city of British Columbia. Owned by Western Gateway Hotel Ltd. and managed by Western International, Four Points by Sheraton Victoria Gateway is just minutes from downtown Victoria. This contemporary, 117-room property offers spacious rooms, comfortable beds, free internet and bottled water, and a lively, social atmosphere.

Located on the southern tip of Vancouver Island, the city of Victoria is a popular tourist destination known for its natural beauty, upscale dining, shopping and museums. A mere 15-minute drive from downtown Victoria, Four Points by Sheraton Victoria Gateway is just off the Trans Canada Highway, close to Bear Mountain, Olympic View Golf Course, Goldstream Provincial Park, Hatley Castle and the Great Canadian Casino. Nearby recreation includes hiking trails, world-class skiing and whale-watching expeditions.

"Four Points by Sheraton is delighted to welcome guests to Victoria, British Columbia, a scenic city that boasts both a lively downtown and diversity of outdoor recreation," said Sandy Swider, Vice President, Four Points by Sheraton. "Four Points by Sheraton gives guests just what they need - comfortable rooms, an inviting social atmosphere and extras to help them feel fulfilled at the end of the day."

I saw the 4 pts when I got lost trying to find the Westin Bear Mountain this summer. The 4 points is in a generic suburban neighborhood just up the street from a Home Depot and, of course, a Tim Horton's. Looked nice for a 4 points, but the Westin Bear Mountain is a beautiful resort that will be much better after all of the surrounding construction is done.
If the rates are close at all, I would still go for the Westin.

Agreed that the Westin is a lovely hotel.

But I wonder why it and the Four Points are listed as in Victoria, BC. They are in a neighbouring municipality, 20-25 minutes by car from downtown Victoria, & 35-40km from the airport and ferries.

FYI

Typical new four points. Level of service is actually pretty good. Rooms are well furnished for a 4P. Lobby is nicely done.

Surprisingly, I found the pub/restaurant to have good food.

Only thing I did not like was that the desk seemed a little high.

As an SPG PLat, no upgrade to a suite. Simply an SPG room. Large shower stall, no bathtub.

I have nothing to complain of and since the property is quite new, the rooms still have a very fresh feel to them.

I've stayed at this hotel several times. Depending on the rate you pay, this hotel is an excellent value.

Note it is just off of the Hwy 1 Millstream Rd freeway exit in Langford, 15 miles from Downtown Victoria on the highway that goes up island. Tucked away at the back of an industrial neighbourhood (shopping malls, Cost-Co, etc) in what appears to be a dead end rd, however the location is quiet enough.

Visually appealing, rooms are nicely appoined. I've stayed in a few upgraded room types, both with large LCD Tvs. More often than not, I'll get a corner room, which is nice enough. Once I got a room in the middle with a jaccusi in the middle of the room, although I'm guessing these rooms are limited.

Parking is free. The pool has never been open when I've been there, but this may have changed. I've never tried the restaurant, but have seen happy hour appetizer specials advertised on the street for their pub.

They offer a great room at a well run hotel, competitive pricing, and SPG credit. If the location works with your circumstances (*you'll need a car*) I highly recommend this hotel.

I had a problem with late checkout at this hotel on one stay. (I think this hotel was listed as a resort for a period of time, but now is not.) I'm sure the situation is now resolved. Otherwise all interactions with the staff have been perfect. Enjoy! 4 Points Victoria is a keeper.

I just completed a 3 night stay on C&P. Since the drive into Victoria was so easy, I consider the hotel to be a very good value. We were also upgraded to a suite, which worked nicely for our family configuration. The staff was friendly and accommodating across the board (all the way to the GM). As mentioned previously, you'll definitely need a car. The local commercial development was not designed with pedestrians in mind. But if you don't mind spending 20 minutes to get into town or to attractions like Butchart, this is a good option with excellent service.

Which is a bit of a shame considering Victoria BC is a wonderful city for walking around with great parks, restaurants, and a historic downtown/central business district which do not require a car at all. I would pick a bed and breakfast in James Bay or Fairfield far before deciding to stay in Langford near a strip mall!

Both this property and the Westin Bear Mountain both "advertise" they are in Victoria when they are actually in Langford.

20 min getting into town must be on a Sunday morning. Rush hour will take at least 45-60 min either way.

Braindrain is correct. There are currently NO Starwood hotels in Victoria.

Has anyone stayed here as of late? (Old thread, sorry.)

I have an upcoming stay for business and was wondering if anyone has updated information regarding this property.

Westin Bear Mountain would have been my first pick but the rates are astronomical and out of company budgets. Thanks in advance!

What specifically would you like to know? This is our go-to hotel if our choice is SPG every time we go to Victoria as the Westin Bear Mountain is even further away from downtown Vic (which is where we like to be). As others have said, you need a car. Rush hour definitely takes 40 minutes but other times about 20 minutes. Rooms are nice enough. As a Plat, I almost always opt for the breakfast amenity and it is a la carte to a certain $ amount (can't remember) in their restaurant/pub. Nothing remarkable -- good or bad -- just a solid SPG property on Vancouver Island. Other than the commute getting to/from downtown, you won't go wrong staying here.

I have stayed here for two nights in May.
Rooms are great. There were no upgrades because it was completely full, that we even had to park on the street.
Traffic was not an issue for us because we had dinner in downtown for both nights.
3000 points a night is definitely a good deal, considering it was 7000 the year before.

catgirl / Ayase,

Thanks for the replies. Much appreciated.

I know Bear Mountain is just up the hill, but have never stayed at the Four Points, however, I am familiar with the local area. Just wanted to know if some of the reviews on Tripadvisor are actually warranted or not.

Currently at the Sheraton in Saskatoon. Hotel seems pretty quiet and no upgrade (I believe it's a franchise, not Starwood owned.) Looking forward to my stay @ the Four Points tomorrow.
