Nooooooooo....so now we have only one SPG hotel left in Scandinavia. Maybe they didn't want to become a part of Marriott's Autograph Collection? How can Hilton (and to a certain degree IHG) maintain so many properties? Scandinavia is not an market of interest for Starwood? Neither are the Baltics!!

There was a Le Meridien in Copenhagen just a few years back, and a long time ago there were Sheraton in both Gøteborg and Malmø, and even in Oslo and Copenhagen. Hilton is even opening a Doubletree in Reykjavik this summer.

Yeah, there are a load of Radisson hotels in Scandinavia - in every major city, but they are not on par with Sheraton, IMO. At least not for elite members, very meager benefits. Yeah, Radisson might claim having the northernmost hotel in the world, in Longyearbyen, but that hotel is not on par with a Hilton or a Sheraton.

Hilton have fullservice hotels both in Finland, Iceland, Denmark, and Sweden with club lounges, etc.....none in Norway though.

I don't consider Design Hotels to be an option, as they are not fully part of Starwood. Unfortunately, The Thief in Oslo won't participate in the partnership with Starwood. There are a bunch of Design Hotels participating with SPG in Stockholm and a very remote hotel on Iceland though. But it's not the same.

I hope we won't see a tendency of great hotels leaving SPG prior to Marriott's merger.

There is no point in speculating about the potential merger with Marriott, as that deal hasn't closed and even once it does, an integration of brands will take a long time.

I suspect the management agreement with SPG came up for renewal or renegotiation, and the Kämp owners either didn't see the benefit, preferred LHW, got a better deal, or any combination of those.

If you go back one year in the thread you'll find contract renewal was back then, not now.

Ritz is part of Marriott. It will be back in the same company again.

OK, but what's the point? They probably extended for a few months and then went with LHW.

Kämp Group have rebranded themselves as Kämp Collection Hotels - sound familiar?

While Kämp is now bookable on LHW, they have also introduced their own booking engine which is significantly cheaper than LHW as LHW only seems to carry flex rates, e.g
Today either 230€ or 315€.

Klaus K can be booked on the DesignHotels website for 110e, but is not visible on SPG.

That's because they do not yet participate in SPG, see:

Just received this:

Dear Guest,

Our legendary Hotel Kämp became a member of the Leading Hotels of the World in the beginning of March and guest experience has been raised according to the remarkably uncommon. Also, we have finally completed the refurbishment of the hotel and especially our suites are now lifted to a new level of elegance. We have a special campaign that we are happy to offer to you, and are pleased to inform that other admired and acknowledged benefits are still included, thus the SPG membership points program is no longer valid at the Hotel Kämp.

Hotel Kämp, the crown of Kämp Collection Hotels being located in the heart of Helsinki, has played an important role in Finland since it opened in 1887. Situated between Eastern and Western cultures the city of Helsinki - and Hotel Kämp - is a fantastic seaside destination full of cultural programs and a wide range of international culinary attractions. This week on the 19th of May we are launching the History of Hotel Kämp: The Hotel and its City Please have a sneak preview.

New SPG Member Hotel – Klaus K Hotel

We are also pleased to tell you that a Kämp Collection Hotel, Klaus K Hotel, will become a member of the highly valued SPG program. Klaus K Hotel, the most prestigious lifestyle design hotel in Helsinki, will have the exclusivity of the program in the Finnish capital. We will be happy to introduce Klaus K Hotel to the SPG members with points program starting on the 25th of May 2016.

Stay connected!

Update your contact details and receive the latest news and offers from Kämp Collection Hotels.

Slightly misleading given that if Klaus K is joining as a DesignHotel, it will not be providing full SPG benefits as people might have expected given this email.

I take it this isn't valid anymore...But it'll be great if spgcravings would update its system.

Or is this still valid? Was searching Klaus K cravings and found this instead.

I very much doubt that is still valid. But the Kämp burger is very tasty.

Omg, I remember having that last year, including room service fee and tips it was like 40 euros!

Speaking of Klaus K, anyone stayed here? Looks like the rooms are super tiny. Plus the fact that if you BRG Klaus, you're stuck with a single bed in 150 sq ft. room!

*crossing fingers that they upgrade plats :-). Any one?
