Planet Hollywood-Las Vegas Emails?

Has anyone else been getting a flurry of emails from Planet Hollywood that have changing rates?

I stay there fairly often and am glad for the emailed "specials", but I've received 3 in the last week and the rates change every email! I received one on 11/09 announcing their grand re-opening and rooms for $79 (limited time-so act now!!!!). On 11/13 I got another email announcing rooms for $69. On 11/14 I received another for $69 but with the fly to Vegas for $19 offer. The latest received on 11/15 is the rooms still for $69 and still flight for $19, but stay two nights and get the third free.

I'm all for these offers, but how can they change so often? The SPG site doesn't have the same rates, so I assume they are being made by the hotel themselves. If nothing else, I've learned never to jump at their first email and wait for a better one to come! Can't wait to see what today's is......

Paul

I say keep em coming! Actually, I was shocked at the flurry of emails also and I actually think it gets counter productive at some point as you just tend to ignore them after the first couple.

I think they are counter productive. While I was ready to book a room and forgot, the next email was for a lower room. Since each offer is for something different, whats the rush to actually book a room? You would also think *wood as a whole would force some consistancy since the prices on their web site are $20-$30 higher than the hotel's web site.

Heck, with those rates, I might as well sign up for it and make some points!

Where do you need to go to find those rates? I'm trying to find some good rates for early next year.

My favorite for all Vegas hotel promotions is FatWallet.

Not to be too picky, but you're only getting emails because you signed up for them so they're not really SPAM. (Plus, don't they all have an opt out option?)

There are SO many different ways to be quoted a rate at PH that's it hard to keep track of them all. Starwood, Sheraton, Sheraton promotions, PH site, publicly available PH promotions, targeted casino marketing PH promotions. While it's a bit of a hassle, with a little legwork if can pay off.

Would using one of the fatwallet or other promos make you ineligible to earn Starpoints?

So long as you use a promotion where you actually book with PH, yes you earn *points. (Most of the promotions listed FatWallet and similar sites are from the hotels themselves; they're not "FatWallet" promotions per se.) I'm not sure of the answer regarding 3rd party promotions.

the point of the thread is that some of us have received three, four, or more emails within the space of a couple of days from the same property offering low rates. we think one would do.

so, yes, email one (and possibly even email two) would be okay. any further emails are SPAM in my book.

I luv how you used the rolleyes smilie, like you've somehow been aggrieved or something LOL.

If you really think you're being SPAMed by PH (by your definition anyway), then just opt out. All of those offers you're troubled by are easily obtainable on the Web.

Exactly. Enough people opt-out, if they're doing their e-marketing measurement homework, they'll realize they're overmailing.

It's a common mistake among some e-marketers to realize that permission to e-mail doesn't mean you can't irritate someone. There are several firms I otherwise like to do business with (ProFlowers, Costco.com) that e-mail once or more a week and I've opted out.

Specials should appear to be "special" and not common. Planet Hollywood marketers haven't figured that one out yet.
