THANK YOU- Cash & Points Property Avails for ALL 2005

Just got an email advising that SPG has announced the 2005 Cash and Points participating properties for the WHOLE YEAR instead of the usual per quarter announcement, for easier planning for us, the customer. And it certainly is another bright spot that 2005 Cash and Points ratios same as 2004; ie Cat 1=1200pts and $25!!!).

SPG, THANK YOU VERY MUCH for this extremely customer-friendly enhancement (you'll notice NO QUOTATION MARKS around the word enhancement!!!)

^

"Woohoo," indeed!

As usual, FTers had a heads-up on this before the announcement. ^

I was just looking for some confirmation that the links worked.

Wasn't my idea, but I'm glad they chose to do it this way. FWIW, the first one every year is still going to be a mess with category changes and all.

I apologize if this question has already been answered, or if it may sound stupid, but can one earn Starpoints on Cash & Points stays with the cash portion?

Not stupid and often-asked, but the answer is no.

Just a word of caution (found out the hard way). The same hotel may participate in only one of the quarters - it's their choice to opt in/out each quarter so you may have to check a bit before you find a date.

yes, but only for a limited number of Starwood properties. Do not get too excited about this deal, although it is good if you can find a property you really want to stay at. I could not.

Yeah.. I'm not able to find the Sheraton Laguna Nusa Dua nor Westin in Bali after March '05. They are participating for Jan-March 05.

Even though your question was deemed "not stupid" , I will follow it up with a question that seems rather silly, and I am sure oft-asked....

Would a platinum member receive the 500 point welcome amenity (or any of the other choices -- as though anyone chooses them!)? I know (well, have been pleasantly surprised to know) that I receive them on award bookings, so I wonder if this would be the same thing?

Thanks,
Stevekoe

You should receive full status benefits on a cash & points stay, including an appropriate amenity such as 500 SPG points where offered...
