platin 100 welcome gift

I usualy let my Ambassador ask in the hotel for sparkling wine or other things.
Usualy they put what i whant then in the room.
But now a hotel replied they have to give nothing for plat100?
I thought as VIP6 a welcome gift has to be given from the hotel?
They can pick what they whant as gift shure, but to say just simply no? Its a Le Meridien.
A reply from Mr. Sanders would be appreciated.

A special amenity has never been a guaranteed part of the Platinum 100 program. I rarely get anything and don't expect to...

I only do repeat business in hotels that deserve it. If you like getting welcome gifts, return often to the hotels that do them. Demanding one through ambassador seems a little crazy. Ultimately, if it was an actual SPG benefit I would prefer a percentage off the rate rather than these "amazing" bottles of wine and "wonderful" strawberries in chocolates. But they are totally at hotel's discretion, so no SPG fault here.

I demand nothing. If they meet my preferences fine if not ok too.
But if the hotel realy gives nothing i wont simply book again there, yes.

I rarely get anything other than from hotels I frequent regularly and, in that case, they tend to see what my preferences are from my Ambassador profile. I don't demand anything and am always pleasantly surprised when an amenity is offered.

Agree with the general sentiment - an "extra" welcome gift is not a benefit of the program but make it a point to patronize properties that do include an in-room amenity. Some hotels base the amenity on my Ambassador profile while others seem to have something more standard.

My most-frequently visited hotel offered me a bottle of wine or free dinner the night I turned Ambassador. Then, nothing special after that.

Recently, I switched room last minute and was told there was an amenity for someone else in my room that they needed to come and take. They never came and I had to bring it to the front desk after waiting an hour.

I think it is just a lot easier to get the points than having anything delivered/left in the room.

LOL, so they had you bring somebody's gift to the desk? If that isn't a slap in the face......

But I guess it sounds like they feel you are so regular there that you are part of their "family".

IIRC from another thread, username elected to take the gift to the front desk after no one came for it. I do not believe the front desk asked username to bring the amenity to the desk.

Seriously? Where's that hall-of-fame DKYWIA thread?

(spell check is a great tool, btw)

Correct. I did not want food I don't want to eat rotting in my room or go to waste. I hate it when people leave plates in the hallway. So, I had to take it downstairs so I could move on with my plans.

This was not at my regular hotel. It was a hotel I visited the first time - the same one that would not want me to take pictures in the lobby with a "professional camera" in the other thread. The same one I won't disclose the name here
