Are you referring to your local AAA travel agent?

Thanks but this is in reference to using your AAA discount when reserving a room. Does that nullify your ability to earn the starwood points for that stay?

If you mean using a AAA discounted rate when reserving a room, yes you do get Starwood points. On their own website, Starwood always seems to have a AAA rate listed in the discounted rates area, which generally is somewhat cheaper than their other rates.

It's worth comparing the AAA rates with corporate or other discounts (versus regularly posted online rates).

And yes, you get full credit and points for these stays.

I tried searching for an answer to this but couldn't find one, and hence this post.

So, I'm booking a suite for this weekend. We're 4 friends out of which 1 is a AAA member.

Can I book a AAA rate from my SPG account and he can show his AAA membership card at check-in?

(Also, yes, I am planning to get a AAA membership soon)

The room should be booked in the name of the AAA cardholder. The hotel won't care if the bill is settled on someone else's (your) credit card later.

AAA has their terms; SPG has their terms. If both parties check in together, it shouldn't be a problem, though.

I asked Corporate Revenue Management and they say that the reservation needs to be booked in the name of the person who has the AAA membership.
