I had one experience this year where this has indeed been the case.

Can the dear Lurkers confirm? Will we get three night credits if we book three rooms in the same hotel for the same night?

Negotiate and get everything you want

I recently booked at short notice a total of 74 room nights for a week conference. Small on the scale of bookings but I got a good rate and was well looked after for points/account credits

Yes if all rooms are under your name and you pay for the rooms. But not more than 3.

It's worked for me sometimes, and it hasn't worked other times. It's definitely a YMMV situation.

i'm just reporting what I heard and if you read the posts it appears as if he is saying yes. I also travel with my assistant and I have noticed recently that I am getting credit for her rooms.

I'm reading this and still I need some kind of conformation. So if I booked 3 rooms for one night only, I will get 3 nights credit? Basically I could qualify for plat by booking 3 rooms for 17 nights.

Yes if all 3 rooms for all 17 nights must be booked under your name and paid by yourself.
