You have to solve the puzzle and see if you have won an instant price. You also get to be entered in a draw:

I solved the puzzle but no points for me.

I can't get it to work. Logged in, put in my SPG number. Nothing.

I didn't win but was excited to see that SPG is adding a property in Iceland!

So he who found the competition won nothing but 50% of the flyertalk members have....

Will call my Ambassador to fix this!

Thanks. No points either. I speculate , however, that if a hotel is in the SPG competition it is likely to be one of those that comes into the SPG portfolio.

JohnSIN (is that name intentional or a misfortunate combination?), thanks for posting this contest. I finally got it to work and won ... drum roll please ... entries into the final grand prize drawing.

I just wish the grand prize was something like this:

If you want to go to Iceland, consider staying at a hotel in Grindavik for at least a portion of the trip; the Blue Lagoon's there. http://www.bluelagoon.com/

I've never been to the Ion Hotel but if your goal is to visit the national park there, I'd probably opt to day trip it unless you're looking for isolation. Of course the population of Iceland's just over 300K (1/3 of pop in Reykjavík) so it's not hard to find isolated spots in Iceland.

it actually shows up on my home page when i log onto spg.com....

I've never won any of these things. The closest I've ever come was that Hilton online game promo a few years ago that I was close to getting diamond status at when they canceled it due to people cheating. Ironically, that's when I started really focusing my stays on Starwood.

Finally justice is served and I won my first 1000 points.

I wonder about the prize valuations, too.
Also interesting is that the Cat 1-5 night has a definite expiration (31 March 2016), but the grand prize has no expiration listed.
