Back to back stays allowed for "stay credit" ?

Question. I frequently do somewhat of a shuffle to get stays credit, for example switching from the Westin St. Francis San Francisco Tuesday night to the W San Francisco Wednesday night.

Is it possible simply to make two reservations at the same hotel, say the W San Francisco, and just check out and check back in the very next day, for two nights of stay credit?

My questions are -

1. Is it possible under the current computer system?
2. Is it within the program guidelines?
3. Does anyone else do this or is this crazy / unethical?

Thanks.

Under the program T&C any consecutive stays in the same city count as only one stay regardless if you change hotels. SO Starwood says NO.

That being said, it has been the experience of most of this board's members that you will indeed get stay credit by employing this method. I have never heard of anyone getting 2 different stay credits for 2 consecutive nights in the same hotel, however I bet it would work if you tried.

I have to agree with mtacchi on both counts. In the words of another FlyerTalker, "Your mileage may vary."
