AT&T ON-LINE BONUS

AT&T is offering a 2,000 Starpoints bonus to each AT&T customer who is a Starwood Preferred Guest member and signs up for AT&T On-Line Billing.

Promotion Dates: AT&T customers must sign up for AT&T On-Line Billing between July 12 and December 31, 2001.

Bonus Crediting: AT&T will provide us the information as to who has qualified for the 2,000 Starpoints bonus on a monthly basis. All sign-up processing and information required for the bonus will be done between AT&T and the Starwood Preferred Guest member. AT&T is advising members that credit will appear on their accounts within 6-8 weeks after sign-up for On-Line Billing. On-Line Billing can take up to 30 days to take affect.

This promotion is from AT&T. Everything for this promotion is done with, through, and by AT&T On-Line. Please do not call Starwood Preferred Guest to verify the your eligibility status. If you call Starwood Preferred Guest claiming to have earned the 2,000 Starpoints bonus for this offer, you will be referred back to AT&T for verification.

No offense intended, William, and I do appreciate the information, but AT&T has never given me the Starpoints I have earned by switching to them and using their services (despite monumental efforts).

I realize that Starwood can't control aspects of the reporting, but it is just maddening to me that a first calss operation such as Starwood has anything to do at all with AT&T.

I wish Starwood would go to MCI...they are not perfect, I know, but at least I have eventually received all my points due me through MCI programs.

Bottom Line: Starwood Customers deserve better than AT&T.

William, can you give us the 800 number or the web site URL at ATT to sign up for this. I tried signing up my AT&T account for Starpoints yesterday and got the complete runaround from AT&T (One 800 number referred me to another which referred me to another which referred me to another, which turned out not to be AT&T at all, but SPG). NOBODY at AT&T seems to have even heard of Starwood, and certainly they don't have a clue as to how to sign customers up for Starwood. Thanks for your help.

This is based upon my experiences with AT&T, but they DO NOT give you the points they promise. I had this problem with Marriott (after I had "earned" over 15K and AT&T refused to award them) and recently had this problem with SPG. This is NOT a Starwood problem, it is strictly AT&T, but I would STRONGLY urge people not to sign up for this. The left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing at that company and even after going to their customer service department, I never saw my points (there was a promotion last fall for signing up for wireless and receiving SPG points - I never got the points). Again, this is NOT a Starwood issue - it is AT&T. Just a warning. And in case somebody thinks I work for the competition or something, I don't. I was a loyal AT&T customer until 2 months ago.

Thanks William, but I'll pass on AT&T, they have screwed me once and I"ve heard many a negative comment on AT&T and now I'm MCI and you know the saying:

I agree with everyone about previous bad experiences with AT&T.

I just went to the AT&T website and queried "On-Line Billing." The best I could find was a $25 off Amazon.com coupon. AT&T personnel clueless about the promo and nothing on the website about the Starwood promo-- bad news. How are we supposed to trust them that they can determine who qualifies for this Starwood promotion?

What a shame. This would have been a great opportunity to earn some Starwood points. Even though they are hard to earn, it is just not worth my time dealing/arguing with AT&T to earn 2K Starwood points.

William-- how about a more humane way to earn Starwood points?

It took me seven months to get my 7500 Starpoints from AT&T. They only gave me the miles after many faxes and phone calls. They didn't want to give me what they promised. I am now with Sprint and will leave and go to MCI as soon as my 10,000 miles are posted.

I would not recommend anyone take advantage of this offer. In my experience it is highly unlikely you will get these points without lots of headache. When you call ATT to tell them you aren't receiving any points the CSR will give you the runaround and "file a complaint" which does absolutely nothing. After a few weeks you call them back and the same thing happens. Eventually (unless you were smart and switched to another carrier) you find that you've stayed with ATT for 3, 4, 5 months and have nothing to show for it, when you could have been racking up miles with Sprint or MCI.

dogcanyon, and anyone else who may have been interested in this promotion, I am afraid the old lurker has let you down, at least temporarily. I have just been told that this promotion is not in affect just yet due to curcumstances beyond anyone's control. When it is, you will be notified in your e-statement. I apologize for the confusion as the error was solely my own.

On the bright side...

I signed up with ATT about 8 months ago and received my points with no problem and continue to do so each and every month. I'm sure I'm just lucky but hopefully the whole shebang is turning around.

Starwood Lurker, I choose not to receive an e-statement, & for whatever reason I have not received a snailmail version for months (despite much activity), & I am curious about the status of this promo... I realize that its activation would likely have resulted in @ least one person posting something about it, but I feel compelled to inquire, nonetheless.

In addition, I noted in a review of various search results that there was brief mention of an AT&T online billing promo that may have existed last year, supposedly expired @ the end of last year -- & was to result in a 6000 Starpoint bonus. Do you happen to have any info regarding this?--did it actually exist?
