Getting Platinum benefits when you stay. Upgrades, bonus points, etc., etc. Better than being treated as dirt as a new chain. You can also work your way towards lifetime status, though your constraint appears to be the 10 year requirement, not the nights.

If you do this on a regular basis, you should look at maintaining top tier in two programs. I've been PLT at both MR and SPG for 10+ years - nice to have if you do 100-125+ nights every year.

Just crossed the 155 nights mark now and 500k spg points. I also have platinum status with Marriott.

As I have over 250 nights in a little over a year and a half, does anyone know if reaching platinum status lifetime can be done before the 10 year period? (ie can your ambassador work wonders for you?)

I requal'd in April I believe, on nights. Currently at 47 stays. Will easily eclipse 150 nights this year, again.

unlikely, since the requirement is to complete both the 500 night & 10 year requirement....

Just requalified on nights. At 60-ish, once research gets back to me with a missing stay.

Just requalified on stays and 46 nights and continuing. Got a welcoming email for Platinum Lifetime. 12 years and 575 nights. Yippy!!! The extra 2 years were for Gold.

26 stays and 48 nights this year. I'll definitely hit 75, and 100 is a possibility. We'll see.

Hit 75. 100 now looking like October and 500 for LT right around the end of the year, due to some unplanned non-SPG stays (pesky golf outings..., errr, strategic planning meetings)

SPG? The program's new so YMMV, but I'd bet on no. Requirements are requirements, I suspect they didn't develop them on a whim.

When MR was 12 years, there wasn't flexibility. But MR removed the duration requirement, so as soon as you hit 750/2M, you're in.

Requalified

I finished 50 nights and 15 stays this year in June.
This is my 5th year qualifying as platinum.
My lifetime counter is currently showing 293 nights and 4 years elite.
When does the elite years counter change? I am waiting for it to show 5 years elite and Lifetime gold :)
