2014 Platinum Requalification Roll Call

I didn't see that this thread had been started yet for qualification in 2013 for 2014.

It'll be interesting to hear when the Platinum 50, 75, and 100 levels are made by everyone.

I just made Platinum 50. On the way to Platinum 100!! :)

deadinabsentia Feb 26, 2013 6:34 am

63 nights so far. Had 53 done by the end of Jan. Might be in the 150 night club this year!

Made Platinum Jan 2
Expect Ambassador by Jan 6
;)

Andyman61 Feb 26, 2013 7:13 am

Why on Earth would anyone in their right mind want to brag about making Platinum 100?

CPRich Feb 26, 2013 7:21 am

Ambassador by the 5th. Mine's bigger. Ha!

Danial Feb 27, 2013 4:52 pm

We are all humans ... with pride and ego ...

Some loves to brag, some loves to show off what they have over majority ... well just enjoy your status either by showing off or don't worry be happy on whatever Plat level you are ...

How did you manage 63 nights in 57 days? Because you booked multiple rooms and got the credits??

50 nights in 2 days--wow!! Must be a record.

sapguy Feb 28, 2013 2:58 pm

Lifetime Platinum now, so don't worry about all this crapola anymore.

But LO and behold, I'm already at 25 nights already, and we're not even in March yet!!! ;)

Guess I may break 50 nights this year :D

JBHorner Feb 28, 2013 4:30 pm

I honestly don't know what the love-fest is with Starwood--at least for U.S. hotels. (I get it for some overseas markets.) I've been a Platinum for years, and have yet to really feel that it's that big of a deal.

30 nights so far - as of March 2.

Lots of work travel this year, so we'll see.

Wish it was this easy to get EXP at AA.

Requalified for Platinum for 2014 last night with my 25th stay (on 28 nights). The W New York - Times Square had the pleasure of hosting me for my qualifying night. Upgraded to a Cool Corner room.

Next year will be my 9th as a Platinum, and I'm currently near 600 nights, so hopefully one more requalification next year and I'll be Lifetime Platinum.

Keyser Mar 5, 2013 11:42 pm

47 nights so far at starwood hotels this year but unfortunately only 21 of those will count....the other 26 were booked & paid for directly by my client....will easily get to 75 eligible nights this year, maybe 100 as well but all in all i'll probably end up spending between 150-200 nights in starwood properties this year....

LetsGoToo May 18, 2013 4:16 pm

I just hit SPG 75!

I'm at 81 nights now. Might make 100 by end of June!!

CPRich May 18, 2013 8:21 pm

I'm in the mid-50's - recently hit my 10th year. I should be at 100 by the end of September and 500 lifetime by mid-November, barring a change in travel plans/projects.

2014 Platinum Requalification Roll Call

Will hit 75 nights by end of this week with no slowdown in sight. I guess I'll get an ambassador this year. Never had one, not sure what to do with one. Looking forward to the extra points though.

The extra points is my favorite benefit. Ambassador has been hit or miss.

UA-NYC Jun 8, 2013 2:21 pm

25th stay this past week - whopping 36 nights so far :D

freeupgrade Jun 8, 2013 4:43 pm

117 nights YTD thru June 8, 2013.

40 stays I think.

Peatisback Jun 8, 2013 8:13 pm

Just made it to 80 nights on 22 stays last week. I may limit myself to 125 nights and credit my other 70 nights between HHonors and Hyatt.

Condition One Jun 8, 2013 10:57 pm

At about 60 nights. Should end at around 90 this year. It doesn't sound like an Ambassador is meaningful (unless they can get my SNA's to work as advertised), so I'm not going to make the push to 100.

spainlover Jun 9, 2013 7:13 am

Requalified last week - at 25 stays and 42 nights already for the year. All on my own dime or points. Wish I could say that was due mainly to fabulous vacations but I've been traveling for medical care and staying in a Sheraton.
Also lifetime gold with I think 7 years status and ~280 nights.

ac777 Jun 9, 2013 12:17 pm

No more chasing requalification anymore. The metal card is nice.

have an upcoming stay in a couple of days & till this morning my suite nights had not been confirmed....one email to my ambassador this morning & a few hours later i got the confirmation email for the upgrade....

kanebear Jun 9, 2013 10:08 pm

I don't ever expect to requal for an ambassador again and that doesn't bother me a bit. Should be at 18 stays/31 nights as of tonight. I believe I'm at 9 years plat this year and 569 nights. Perma-plat here I come! Not that it'll change my stay patterns... plat been belly belly good to me.

uxb Jun 11, 2013 6:33 am

Requalified the other day. 26 stays / 42 nights. Have another 10 stays / 22 nights on the books.

sj22 Jun 11, 2013 6:49 am

28 stays, 57 nights and counting.

BoeingGuy Jun 11, 2013 8:11 am

28 stays and 92 nights through June 7th.... Expecting to finish the year around 175 nights

nevansm Jun 11, 2013 3:01 pm

21 stays, 57 nights as of last week. Would have another 5 this week but the only property in town was sold out and wanted 315/night compared to the 185 override at the Marriott.

Keyser Jun 11, 2013 8:49 pm

just checked in for my 25th stay of the year....

Flews Jun 20, 2013 11:56 am

Just requalified for the last time in my life.

Got the *wood email today congratulating me on achieving Lifetime Platinum.

:D

Cheers,

Sadly, I am at 142 days and 12 stays for the year....

Having achieved all possible levels for the year? Is there any benefit to continue staying at an SPG property? (i.e., some secret level at 150) At least Marriott you can roll over nights....

Eastbay1K Jun 21, 2013 10:47 pm

Done, at 25 stays, eff. last weekend.

Getting Platinum benefits when you stay. Upgrades, bonus points, etc., etc. Better than being treated as dirt as a new chain. You can also work your way towards lifetime status, though your constraint appears to be the 10 year requirement, not the nights.

If you do this on a regular basis, you should look at maintaining top tier in two programs. I've been PLT at both MR and SPG for 10+ years - nice to have if you do 100-125+ nights every year.

Congrats! I can't wait to hit that. 3, perhaps 4 more years to go.
