Exclamation SPG 'Earn Your Dreams' promo

I've been trying to make a booking under the "Earn Your Dreams" promo (www.earnyourdreams.com) for a stay at the Sheraton Amman hotel in April, so that I could earn double Starpoints on a standard room.

No matter what date(s) I choose, I get the error "Your SET or Corporate Account rate is unavailable on the dates you selected"

I booked the room anyway and used the online chat service on spg.com to get to the root of the problem and get the SET code added to my booking. After a conversation that took at least 45 minutes, consisting mainly of the rep telling me the obvious "Your SET or Corporate Account rate is unavailable on the dates you selected" or basically "computer says no" the rep just gave up and told me she did not know what the issue was, and why she couldn't book a single night in any month with using this promo was beyond her.

She contacted the hotel on my behalf and they promised to get back to me, but as you can guess, no one has.

Another sign that this promo could be "Just a Dream" is that I also tried using it to book a room at one of the Dubai 4Points in December, also to no avail. I didn't care much since it was just one night (and a low room rate), but for this stay its 3 nights at a higher rate and probably a decent hotel spend too. I could use the extra points!

So to cut a long story short, has anyone successfully made a booking with the Earn Your Dreams promo?

Cheers,
J

Just a guess, but it looks to me like the set code is prepopulated depending on the promotion you choose.

double bonus pts - SET 355781
triple bonus pts - SET 355783
3000 bonus pts - SET 355784

So if you change the SET code, you will no longer get the bonus.

Edit: Just reread your OP and I may have misunderstood. I don't think you are trying to change the SET code, just trying to get the promotion to come up. So disregard my comments. I have no idea!

I can get triple points to work at that property, but not double.

Thanks for allowing us to look into this. Apparently there are some technical issues with three of the participating properties; however, The Four Points by Sheraton Bur Dubai is displaying availability when there is some.

Global Marketing Operations is currently working on the other three to have them display availability as expected.

This is "Earn Your Dreams" -- not "Purchase Your Dreams." You apparently must work harder to earn your dreams.

Thank you very much William.

The hotel eventually contacted me yesterday apologizing for the technical error, and recommended I cancel my booking and rebook through earnyourdreams.com.
The rate is now 15% more expensive than my original booking, but I booked it anyway for the triple starpoints.

Yes, I'll do pretty much anything for more points Eagerly awaiting the Q2 promo so I can stack it up with this one

click on the link, it's a rate code you have to use when you make your reservation.

Yes, but that's the WRONG link - it only shows the T&Cs. The correct link to make a reservation under this promo is
http://www.earnyourdreams.com/. The rate code link gives you double, triple, or 3,000 points - all at a higher rate than the lowest available rate. In some cases, it pays to pay the higher rate, but not always.

It's not exactly wrong, it gives you the rate codes you can enter manually, but if you use your link, they enter it for you, and it's certainly good to have both links. Anyway, there's still no registration for this, it's a rate code either way.

You are spot on about special rate codes often not being worth it.

Pls confirm that this is NOT the replacement of the current promo that is running through 4/15

This looks like a special rate not a system wide promo

Thanks

That is correct.

Yes, this thread is for all sorts of promos, and it's better without all these extra posts in it. (you can just follow it and be notified when there's a new promo. Sometimes it's a single property promo, other times it's a rate code, other times it's the big quarterly promo.)

No, you still have to the 15th to earn under this promo: Q1 2011 - SPG Great Weeks, Grand Weekends.
