Exactly. Category 4 properties go from 10K/night to 6K with N&F.

Technically 8k/night to 6k/night, but still a great deal - I wish my 5-night stay was not at a Cat-5 hotel for Christmas.

if i do a nights and flights transfer, can i make the hotel room reservations later down the line? basically like putting it on hold?

Yikes - I'm less than 800 miles shy of 40K spg points. Has anyone had any luck requesting SPG to front the points for being a loyal customer?

Sort of. You do this by booking something for the future and changing the dates when you know your schedule. My understanding has been that you can even change hotels as long as the new hotel is the same category. If your desired hotel changes category, though, then you can't rebook into new dates at that particular hotel.

I've only used N&F once. My perspective was sort of opposite what I've suggested to others here. I was definitely booking a Cat4 Fifth Night Free award, so I viewed it as an opportunity to get 50K miles for just 30K more Starpoints than I was already planning to spend on the FNF award. Normally, I still value my points more than that, but I had secured some good award flights in Business Class. (Both the flights and hotel were for our ski trip to Davos, Switzerland, last year. OT: I seriously don't know why no one has expressed interest in booking C&P awards in Davos this winter. They're available for every single night in Feb & March.)

So applying some FT alchemy, 60,000 SPG points + $30 = 200,000 HHonors points (plus about 1,000 leftover AAdvantage miles).

wouldn't 60,000 AA points convert to 120,000 HH points? or am I missing a step?

It's 60,000 SPG points which transfer to AA as 75,000 miles which receive a 35% bonus from AA resulting in a total of 101,250 AA miles available for transfer to HH.

2 steps

60KSPG+ 15K bonus from * - 75K to transfer

+35% bonus is somewhere over 100K AA - math is upthread

that's hilarious.

you can just buy spg points.

I'm keeping my SPG points, despite the lure of this promo of converting SPG points to AA miles (which I don't need), or HH points (I'll take all I can get). I'm kinda conflicted as to exactly what I'm going to do, if anything, since the promo involves more than just SPG.

I realize we all have different needs, and wants. Grabbing more AA miles is not at the top of my list.

SOLD!

I will be cashing in Many Starpoints if this indeed is the rate of exchange. Hotels...While I prefer Starwood by far, when I am flying to AU or EZE, IST etc... the miles are far more valuable for F & J class seats. This week I am in F class on JFK-HKG on Cathay and mileage in this case far trumps hotel points. $17,000 ticket 135,000 miles....great deal.

My only fear is that with fewer planes flying and flight loads quite full, the aadvantage program will soon raise their redemption rates once many of us have transferred in. Time will tell.

Happy Travels.

Can anyone confirm that no registration is needed?

Thanks

Has it been verified that the SPG gets the % bonus?

Seems to me that AA references only hotel points programs as opposed to the umbrela of the SPG ownership group.

If you click on one of the Starwood hotel brands on the AA webpage, you will see language indicating that the bonus extends to transfers from Starwood. (Besides, how else would one transfer "points" earned at a Sheraton or a Westin except through SPG?)

I'm sure AA could come up with a technicality to void the bonus.
